🏛️ Ipswich Borough Council has purchased Waterloo House, the former Debenhams building on the Cornhill, securing control of one of the most important sites in the town centre.

Vacant since 2021, the building has been a prominent empty space at the heart of Ipswich. The acquisition will help remove a long-standing eyesore and create opportunities for future redevelopment that supports economic growth, attracts investment and brings more activity to the town centre.

The Council's ambition is to work with a development partner to deliver a high-quality mixed-use scheme that is financially viable, deliverable and designed to meet the future needs of Ipswich.

The purchase has been funded through the Government's Local Regeneration Fund.

🌧️ Our splash pad in Holywells Park will be closed today.

With rainy weather forecast during the morning and afternoon, we've taken the decision to close the water play area for the safety of our visitors.

We're sorry for any inconvenience.

📅A reminder that this Sunday, 6 September, is the last day of opening for the splash pad during this summer season.

😞 We're sorry that the paddling pool in Bourne Park has already closed, due to circumstances beyond our control.

✅ Lloyds Avenue transformation moves a step closer.

The improvements will create a greener, more accessible and welcoming public space, with wider pedestrian areas, new seating, high-quality paving, cycle parking and planting.

The project is expected to begin later this year and forms part of our ongoing investment in creating a vibrant town centre for residents, businesses and visitors.
