We’d like your views on our draft Aberdeenshire Nature Network over at engage.aberdeenshire.gov.uk where you can also check out our You Said, We Did section.

Nature networks connect nature-rich areas allowing wildlife and natural processes to move and adapt to land use and climate change pressures.

We have a duty under the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004 to further the conservation of biodiversity, and our draft network identifies where work could take place to provide greater connectivity and resilience for nature in Aberdeenshire.

The Scotmid Community Orchard initiative supports communities throughout Scotland and northern England.
Local groups are eligible to apply for up to £200 to plant fruit trees and shrubs near their stores—promoting physical activity, enhancing green spaces, and fostering community connections.
These orchards provide chances for volunteering, education, wildlife habitats, and fresh fruit.
Hundreds of trees have already been planted, and participants can join the community on Facebook to exchange advice and experiences.
