More positive news for the City-Region Deal as Inverness' public WiFi system officially goes live. Known as Ness WiFi, the network is available in the Victorian Market and the streets surrounding it, as well as Falcon Square. A full roll-out across the city centre will follow later in the year.
The project will provide free, fast and reliable WiFi for both locals and tourists in the city centre. More information can be found at www.nesswifi.co.uk .

An extremely important and positive day on Monday as the City Region Deal was officially signed off at a ceremony in Carbon Dynamic HQ. The signing ceremony also included an agreement to release funding for three projects - Science Skills STEMD, The University of the Highlands and Islands' School of Health, Social Care and Life Sciences, and a Land Remediation project designed to make available the derelict land at the Longman.

The vision behind the Inverness City-Region Deal is to position Inverness and the Highlands as a region of digital opportunity. This vision was turned into reality with the signing on Tuesday 22 March of the heads of terms agreement between the UK and Scottish Governments and the Highland Council. This sets out the broad areas where Government will commit investment of up to £188m which together with £127m of further investment by the Council and public partners will deliver a step change in digital connectivity, digital healthcare, skills, innovation and infrastructure.
