Cross fingers the rain holds off tomorrow, as Kate has the privilege of serving as one of the honour guards alongside fellow veteran bikers, escorting a very special memorial to the National Memorial Arboretum.

This unique national memorial, dedicated to Armed Forces veterans who have died by su***de, will begin its journey from Leyburn to its permanent home at the NMA. It stands as a powerful reminder of the lives lost, the families left behind, and the ongoing need for awareness, support, and understanding within the veteran community.

Having lost far too many friends to su***de including, only recently, a fellow RAF colleague it is an honour to play even a small part in bringing this memorial to its rightful place of remembrance.

If you see us on the route, please give us a wave of support. It means more than you know.

Apologies for the delay I’ve been away with The Armed Forces Bikers.

The Normandy landings were the landing operations and associated airborne operations on 6 June 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during the Second World War. Codenamed Operation Neptune and often referred to as D-Day (after the military term), it is the largest seaborne invasion in history. The operation began the liberation of France and the rest of Western Europe, and laid the foundations for the Allied victory on the Western Front.

Remembering Ptr Donald Rose who was a D-Day veteran.

It hits hard because it is hard.
Six lives five serving personnel and one veteran gone within weeks. Each name carries a whole world behind it.

Bdr Ciara Sullivan — Royal Horse Artillery, The King’s Troop

Lance Corporal James Stewart Freeman — 1st Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment (The Vikings)

Air Specialist Class 1 (AS1)
Ayrton Redfearn — Ex RAF Regt

Three Royal Navy Merlin crew members

All different cap badges, different roles, different corners of the Forces family but the same thread of service, courage, and sacrifice.

When losses cluster like this, it shakes the whole community. It reminds everyone how small the military world really is, how quickly news travels, and how deeply it lands.

Kate has lost military friends during her service and since leaving, and it never gets easier. When we lose members of our Forces family whether serving or veterans it hits us all hard.

My heartfelt condolences go out to all the families and friends from everyone in Erewash.

Your loved ones served with pride, courage and commitment.

“Stand down — your work is done.”
RIP.

Can you spot Kate?
Did you know she helps raise money for local charities and visits families in need across the East Midlands with the biker community.

If you’re a biker, we’re always looking for more supporters to help make someone’s dream come true.
We now have both a Nottingham and Derby branch, so if you’d ever like a visit from us, just give us a shout.
