WILDFIRE RISK.

The remains of this fire were found on South Avenue Recreation Ground this morning, and we often find similar scenes in Tilley's Copse and Hurst Meadows, particularly near the Millennium Garden.

PLEASE speak to your young people about the risks of wildfires. These not only pose a risk to people, property, wildlife and the environment, but also place significant pressure on emergency services.

West Sussex Fire & Rescue service is urging people to take extra precautions as the risk of wildfires remains very high across the county. The recent prolonged period of warm, dry weather has left grassland, heathland and woodland areas particularly vulnerable to fire. Even small heat sources, such as discarded ci******es, disposable barbecues or campfires, can develop into significant incidents that spread rapidly, especially during hot, dry and windy weather.

Visit https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/news/help-us-prevent-wildfires-in-west-sussex/ to read more about how you can do your bit to reduce these risks.
