Today, the 30th of May, many years ago, I arrived in Scotland.
I flew across many countries, deserts, and oceans and made a new home. I thank God for all those who have supported my ministry here, and I am grateful for those whom it has touched.

Today, also, on the 30th of May, I also remember the grief and struggle of our parents and ancestors who fought for peace and justice in Biafra. We remember a generation of children who lost their lives to starvation.

We must set aside our differences and stand together as one. May humanity survive. And may peace reign! Amen.

Y'know, the weather can bring out the best in us. So, let this season bring us great joy.

Dearest friends, brothers and sisters,

In three months, I will celebrate my 10th priestly anniversary.

It is a thanksgiving event to acknowledge the grace of God that has carried me this far. Therefore, I invite everyone who can attend in person and those who cannot to keep me in their prayers.

Please complete the attached electronic form to let us know if you will be attending. It takes about 30 seconds to fill out and helps us with planning and arrangements.

I will also put up these notices in our parishes' newsletters in the coming weeks.

God bless you for your attention to this matter.

Dearest friends, yesterday, in celebrating the solemnity of the Ascension, I deliberately wore the chasuble inscribed with: Totus tuus. This translates as "Totally Yours." This was the personal motto of Pope Saint John Paul II, which comes from the longer prayer: 'Totus tuus ego sum, et omnia mea tua sunt' ("I am totally yours, and all that I have is yours").

This serves to remind you that this inscription may not only signify that the person wearing it has dedicated his life to Christ. Let it also mean for you today that Christ has dedicated Himself to you. Christ is TOTALLY YOURS!

He is available to all.

God bless you.❀️

Let us pray with the Pope this month of May, as I wish you all God's choicest blessings.

Ministerium Fidei

Rt Rev. Solomon Amatu recently celebrated his 25th anniversary as a bishop, a joyful occasion for him and the entire Catholic Diocese of Okigwe, Nigeria. During the event, a book of his inspiring words was launched, thoughtfully compiled by Fr. Augustine Ezeonyiwara.

I am pleased to have been remotely part of this occasion and to have recommended this book. It was successfully unveiled and launched during the event by the government of Imo State and many people of goodwill, demonstrating the wide appreciation of his episcopacy and the hard work done by Fr. Augustine.

Congratulations to Bishop Solomon, and well done, Fr. Augustine. And don't forget to get this book if you find it within your reach.

Dearest friends,

Easter Sunday begins with the story of an empty tomb, a place where a body once lay but is now gone. Mary Magdalene arrives early and sees the stone has been moved. Her first reaction is not hope, but loss: β€œThey have taken the Lord.” Peter and another disciple run to the tomb. They find the linen cloths left behind, and the Gospel says they saw and believed, even though they did not yet fully understand that He must rise from the dead.

This is how faith in the resurrection begins, not with full understanding, but with signs that invite us to trust. The empty tomb does not answer every question, but it shows that God has done something new.

The reading from Acts shows how this small beginning became a bold message. Peter, who once ran to the tomb unsure, now speaks with confidence. He focuses not just on the empty tomb, but on what happened next: β€œGod raised Him on the third day and allowed Him to appear.”

The resurrection has become something witnessed, something lived, something preached. The empty tomb led to an encounter, and the encounter has led to mission.

Happy Easter!
