๐Ÿšจ Catalytic converter thefts ๐Ÿšจ

What are catalytic converters?

๐Ÿš” These are devices attached to vehicle exhausts to reduce the amount of dangerous gases emitted.

Why are they targeted by thieves?

๐Ÿš” They contain valuable metals and can be removed in less than a minute. Hybrid vehicles are most commonly targeted as their metal is more valuable, but any vehicle can be at risk.

How can you prevent yours being stolen?

๐Ÿš” Park you car in a garage or safe place over night
๐Ÿš” Register your converter and mark it with a forensic marker, which will make it harder for thieves to dispose of
๐Ÿš” Speak to your car dealer for advice on approved locks and guards for your vehicle

Amanda had worked in hospitality since she was 19 but during Covid lockdown she realised she needed something new.

Something that would always be interesting, wasnโ€™t a desk job, would focus her mind and benefit from her people skills.

So she retook maths and English GCSEs and successfully applied to become a Special constable.

Today she is one of the many volunteers supporting policing in Cambridgeshire who weโ€™re celebrating as national Volunteers' Week begins.

Amanda and her fellow Specials dedicated just under 27,000 hours to policing in the county in the past 12 months, while 53 police support volunteers gave more than 4,300 hours.
Weโ€™re also recruiting for Specials so why not visit our website to find out more and apply https://orlo.uk/r8qxn

Amanda, 34, said: โ€œTo someone thinking of becoming a Special, I would say do it. Donโ€™t even question it.
โ€œChallenge yourself, youโ€™ll be amazed what you can achieve; not just for yourself but for the public too. Itโ€™s an incredible world out there, and what an exhilarating way to see it.โ€

Did you catch us at Cambridgeshire County Show on Saturday?

We were represented by the Rural Crime Action Team, Vision Zero, Bike Safe, Police Cadets and Cambridgeshire Countryside Watch.

It was a brilliant event with community engagement at the heart of our attendance and thousands of people interacted with across the day!

Our neighbourhood teams were out on patrol in St Neots today when they were approached by a member of the public who had found a lost dog ๐Ÿถ

Rooley the pup had been spotted loose on the High Street, but thankfully he was in safe hands ๐Ÿ™Œ

As officers made their way to the vets, they luckily bumped into a friend of the owner, meaning Rooley was quickly and safely reunited with his family. Paw-sitively perfect timing! ๐Ÿพ

It was lovely to meet you, Rooley, you definitely made our day ๐Ÿ’™

From sunshine to storms, no two days are ever the same in policing (or the British weather!) โ˜€๏ธ โšก

After a day spent out engaging with our rural communities, our Rural Crime Action Team captured this striking shot as the skies lit up following the mini heatwave!

Not quite our usual patrol pics ๐Ÿ“ธ

Two men have been jailed for their part in disorder at a boxing event in Huntingdon which saw numerous people injured.

Asriel McLeod, 27, of Raunds, and Andrew Taylor, 33, of Wellingborough, were both involved, alongside others, in the melee at the event held at the Montagu Club in November 2024.

Neighbourhood officers were carried out a warrant in St Neots yesterday, but it wasnโ€™t just drugs they found ๐Ÿพ

Inside, they discovered Hugo, a pup in need of help.๐Ÿถ

He was seized under the Animal Welfare Act after officers found he had been neglected.

The good news? Hugo is now safe and getting the care and attention he deserves thanks to a local charity๐Ÿ’™
