Today we show our support to all police officers and staff working across the emergency services in honour of 999 day.

Since 2017 there has been an annual Emergency Services Day on 9th September to honour all 999 workers across the UK.

On the 9th hour of the 9th day of the 9th month, we remember fallen officers while recognising the two million people working and volunteering across the emergency services.

Today is an opportunity to support the heroic men and women who keep us safe and support us in an emergency.

As the country marks National Rural Crime Action Week, Police and Crime Commissioner, Darryl Preston is calling on people living and working in rural communities across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to continue to report crime.

The annual campaign, which starts this week, highlights the often-hidden realities of rural crime, including machinery theft, hare coursing, livestock worrying, fly-tipping and wildlife crime.

"Tackling crime in our rural communities is a partnership effort however it is vital that the police continue to receive local intelligence", says the Commissioner.

Earlier today, Police and Crime Commissioner Darryl Preston joined the Chris Mann Show to discuss the case for fairer police funding for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

While police forces across the country face growing pressures, Cambridgeshire has maintained around 1,732 officers, around 200 more than in 2021, helping to safeguard frontline policing.

There is no place in modern society for slavery and that’s why the Police and Crime Commissioner has jointly signed his commitment to eliminating it.

PCC Darryl Preston sat side by side with Cambridgeshire Constabulary's Chief Constable Simon Megicks to sign the Modern Slavery Statement.

Their signatures reflect the commitment they share in ensuring no human trafficking, forced labour or exploitation occurs in the force’s own business or supply chain.

✨ Meet the unsung heroes supporting people affected by road tragedies. ✨

National Road Victim Month is an important opportunity to remember everyone whose life has been changed by a road collision and to recognise the compassion and commitment of those who support them.

Thanks to funding from the OPCC, Road Victims Trust provides free, confidential counselling and practical support to people coping with trauma, grief and loss following serious and fatal road collisions.

Last year alone, 17 volunteer counsellors provided more than 1,200 hours of support to victims across Cambridgeshire, helping over 150 people rebuild their lives.

Thank you to every volunteer who gives their time and expertise to ensure people do not have to face the devastating consequences of a road collision alone.

🐾 Yesterday was a paws-itively great day for our newest Animal Welfare Scheme volunteer, who successfully completed her training with a helping paw from canine colleagues PD Madden and PD Ghost.

🐕 The welfare of our police dogs is incredibly important, and we'd like to thank our dedicated handlers and volunteers who help ensure their wellbeing remains a top priority.
