The Sea Child: A gorgeous sweeping historical debut love story set in Cornwall - with a hint of magic and folklore.

It was a grey and misty morning when she appeared on the Cornish shore. A girl of only four years old, soaking wet, unable to speak. The villagers believe she was brought from the sea, the daughter of mystical sea creatures. Now, newly widowed, she returns to start a new life and as she settles in Cornwall, she feels the sea calling to her to come back home…

This debut novel by local author, Linda Wilgus, is our most recent purchase. Pop in and have a look. It may become your next favorite book.

We're all looking forward to beginning our programme of whole class library visits by Brampton Village Primary School on Wednesday. It will take us a while to meet every class as there are 21 currently in the school. It's a real joy to have time to meet the children and talk to them about their reading recommendations and we've lots of new stock ready to show them.

Encouraging young readers is an important part of our mission. We run the Summer Reading Challenge every year and have already registered to run it again this year. More information on that will follow when it's available.
