๐ŸHave you been a busy bee in the garden recently? ๐Ÿ

Our Best Front Garden Competition is back as part of this yearโ€™s Huntingdon in Bloom campaign, and weโ€™d love to see how residents are helping to brighten up the town.

Weโ€™re looking for tidy, colourful front gardens that make a positive difference to our streets , whether thatโ€™s a carefully planted border, a few wellโ€‘chosen pots, or neighbours working together to create something special.

Two categories:
๐ŸŒธ Best Front Garden โ€“ individual entries (must be visible from the street)
๐ŸŒผ Best Street โ€“ two or more neighbouring gardens entered together

Entries close on Friday 26th June 2026.

Think your garden fits the bill? Enter now:

The heat health alert for the East of England has been upgraded to amber from 2pm today (22 May) until 5pm on 28 May, with temperatures set to soar over the next few days.

While we hope people enjoy the warm weather, please remember to do so safely and look out for others who may be at a higher risk of becoming unwell.

If you have to go outside, try to keep out of the sun between 11am and 3pm when itโ€™s at its hottest, walk in the shade, apply sunscreen regularly, wear a hat and light clothes, and drink plenty of water.

Staying indoors? Keep your home cool by closing windows and curtains in rooms that face the sun. โ˜€๏ธ

We're grateful that it's going to be a sunny bank holiday weekend, but please look out for any friends and neighbours who might be struggling in this weather.

With temperatures set to rise, a yellow heat health alert will be in place across the East of England from 9am on 22 May to 5pm on 27 May.

While we hope people enjoy the warm weather, please remember to do so safely and look out for others who may be at a higher risk of becoming unwell - including older people, young children, and those with a health condition.

There are things you can do to stay well in hot weather, including:

๐Ÿ’ง Drink fluids regularly throughout the day to prevent dehydration โ€“ if you are going out, take a refillable bottle filled with water.
โ˜€๏ธ Protect yourself from the sun โ€“ stay in the shade, wear lightweight clothes and a hat, and apply sunscreen generously and frequently.
๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป Limit strenuous physical activity during the hottest part of the day, between 11am and 3pm.
๐Ÿ  Keep your home cool โ€“ close curtains in rooms that face the sun, open windows when the air feels cooler outside than inside and turn off lights and electrical items that are not in use.
