Once again we deliver maximum timber value to anothter client by tapping into the very niche market of Irish Hurleys. Dan Small MICFor has done a great job of selling a small % of this ash felling site to this tiny but lucrative market, arranging it through the main standing sale agreement buyer for the firewood. Only 12m3 of Hurley butts we’re taken off this site from the overall sale agreement but the client realised £3,600 as a result. Firewood standing sale for this volume would have paid £360.

2 weeks ago we said hello to Marcus Ling, who is with us for a 3 month placement period to finalise his 3 year Forestry Commission Degree apprenticeship Course. As well as embarking on a very thought provoking, challenging and interesting WMP renewal (due to poor soils and rainfall having a devastating affect on the extensive woodlands) for a long term client of ours, he has also already been assisting in tree hazard assessments, active harvesting site supervision across multiple counties, mapping software familiarisation and today assisting in the supervision and volume estimation of ash stools being felled for the Irish Hurley market. Next he is beginning a hedge management plan prior to the reopening of CS capital grants for hedge management in July. Busy boy already and only 2 weeks in! Welcome Marcus!
