Our friends at Willington Dovecote and Stables are open this Sunday, 26 July, between 2pm and 5pm.

The 16th century dovecote is one of the best preserved examples in England. Come inside to see the 1,500 nesting boxes which were once home to Sir John Gosticks' pigeons - a symbol of his great wealth.

Entry is free but donations to the National Trust are welcomed. The dovecote is located around 4 miles east of Bedford, just north of the A603 in Willington.

We need some summer reading inspiration!

The shelves in our second-hand bookshop are looking a little bare. If you have any books that you've finished reading and would like to donate, we'd love to receive them. We're particularly in need of paperback fiction and children's books.

You can bring donations to the Tea Room, which is open daily between 10am and 4pm. All proceeds from the bookshop help to preserve Houghton Mill for the future.

It's an old image, the shelves are not this full at the moment!
