A group of Cambridgeshire firefighters is over in America joining more than 200 others to climb the height of the World Trade Centre towers, to honour the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

They are climbing 110 floors at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Every step they take will represent courage, selflessness, and the unbreakable bond shared by emergency service personnel worldwide.

This weekend, five of our firefighters will be heading to Atlanta to take on an extraordinary international challenge of remembrance, sacrifice, and solidarity.

Together, more than 200 firefighters will climb 110 floors the height of the World Trade Centre towers in honour of the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

On 5th September 2026, they will stand shoulder to shoulder with firefighters from across the United States and around the world at the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund Memorial Stair Climb at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Every step they take will represent courage, selflessness, and the unbreakable bond shared by emergency service personnel worldwide.

This stack fire has been keeping crews busy over the weekend.

Firefighters were first called to the fire on Friday evening, shortly after 5.30pm.

Since then, firefighters have been regularly reinspecting the stack to make sure it doesn't spread to the surrounding area.
