Huntingdonshire Recycles

Huntingdonshire Recycles Huntingdonshire District Council's Operations Division providing information about waste collections, campaigns and top tips on reducing your waste.

Run by the Waste Minimisation Team at Huntingdonshire District Council to promote waste reduction and increased recycling (quality and quantity). A map of Bring Sites across the district has been created and can be found here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/3/edit?mid=1qMorzbCbOgLua7S2teLIzwXk5AW5RmI. We do our best to keep this up to date, but if you notice something needs adding or removing, please do get in touch and let us know.

🔥 This is why it matters what goes in your bin.

Fires in bin lorries can happen when the wrong items are thrown away, especially batteries, vapes, electrical items and gas canisters.

These items can get crushed during collection and spark a fire, putting crews, vehicles and the public at risk.

Let’s keep our crews safe and recycle the right things in the right place. ♻️

🥕 Don’t throw those veggie scraps away (yet), turn them into homemade broth!

Carrot tops, onion ends, celery leaves, mushroom stems and herb stalks can all be saved to make a simple vegetable broth.

Just pop your clean scraps in a container in the freezer, then simmer them with water when you have enough. It’s a great way to get more from your food before anything goes to waste.

And for anything you can’t use? Pop it in your food waste caddy so it can be turned into renewable energy and fertiliser. 🌱
