Please be our eyes and ears. Two of our stations have been broken into this week, so we're asking you, our local residents, to help us look out for any suspicious activity around our station.

Chatteris and Gamlingay fire stations were broken into in the early hours of Monday morning and Tuesday evening respectively. At Chatteris, life-saving cutting equipment used at road traffic collisions and other rescues was stolen.

Chief Fire Officer Matthew Warren said: “Break-ins to fire stations are happening across the country and this week we have been victims twice. We are asking for local residents to please help be our eyes and ears, to report any suspicious activity and make a note if possible of any vehicle details including registration number, as well as descriptions of any individuals involved.

"Please also save any CCTV or Ring doorbell footage if it has captured any suspicious activity. The incidents have happened when it’s dark, in the evening and early morning. Entry has been forced, so if you hear a noise coming from one of our stations, please do just look and check to see if it is our firefighters, don’t assume it is. This support by our local communities would be greatly appreciated.”

Anyone with information is asked to visit the Cambridgeshire Constabulary website or call 101 and quote the reference 35/21532/26.

🚒 HALF-WAY THERE! 🚒

A massive well done to FF Aiden Aspinall for passing his 12-month assessment! 🏆 Aiden is officially one year into his development journey at Huntingdon fire station and he can now officially remove his last triangle stickers from his helmet.

This represents a milstone in his development and means that he can now ride the fire engine as a team leader of a Breathing Apparatus crew.
From technical drills to live incidents, he’s proving to be an invaluable member of the team. Keep up the momentum, Aiden! 👊🔥

🚒🔥 Join us in congratulating Firefighter Dylan James, who is now entering his two-year development period at Huntingdon Fire Station! After successfully completing his Phase 1 initial course at the Training Centre, Dylan is ready for the next step.

In addition to being a full-time welder/fabricator at Marshall's Land Systems in Cambridge, Dylan has always dreamed of becoming an on-call firefighter. He eagerly seized this opportunity to make a difference in his local community.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this role is the chance to give back while learning a diverse range of new skills and collaborating with individuals from various backgrounds. Since joining the crew, Dylan has enjoyed attending incidents and honing the skills required in the drill yard.

Throughout his journey, he will undergo periodic assessments to evaluate his competency. We're excited to support Dylan as he continues this important work!

🚨 NEW FIREFIGHTER ALERT!! 🚨

🚒🔥 Please welcome and congratulate Firefighter Aiden Aspinall who is now undergoing his 2 year development period with us at Huntingdon Fire Station following passing his phase 1 initial course at Training centre.

Aiden is a Finance Director at his Father’s family run builders merchant. He decided he wanted to do something alongside this that would enable him to give back to his local community. Being an on-call firefighter gives a real sense of belonging as well as being part of a diverse team.

Since joining, Aiden has enjoyed being a part of the crew, attending incidents and refining the skills needed in the drill yard. Aiden will undertake periodic assessments to test his competency throughout his journey.

Aiden peeled off his stickers to symbolism he has passed his phase 1 training and is now able to wear breathing apparatus with other members of the crew.

Your dedication, hard work, and resilience have truly paid off. Keep up the amazing effort as you continue on this journey! 💪👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

You might not know this, but some of your local firefighters respond to emergencies around other commitments, like their full time work.

This is Marc, he joined Huntingdon Fire Station as an on-call firefighter in 2015 as it was something he had always wanted to do. During the day Marc works as a plumber and responds to calls both whilst at work and in his spare time.

When asked about his experience as an on-call firefighter Marc said: “I most enjoy helping the community and am proud of every successful incident I have been involved with as well as the Firebreak courses I assist on.”
Marc uses many of the skills he has learned as an on-call firefighter in his full-time employment as well.

Today we welcomed Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to the new Huntingdon Fire Station and Service training centre for a tour and to officially open the building with the unveiling of a plaque ✨

It was a perfect event to officially open our new replacement fire station in Huntingdon and the Service’s new training facility and an opportunity for us to properly thank everyone who has been involved in this project.

So much time, effort and hard work has gone into this new build by so many people and it was fantastic to recognise many of those involved in person at the event.

Having Her Royal Highness with us to meet everyone, learn more about our fire and rescue service and unveil a commemorative plaque made it particularly special and something that everyone will remember for years to come.

Calling all businesses who use wooden pallets in the Huntingdon area...

Our Training Centre team are in need of some unpainted wooden pallets and are looking for donations from nearby businesses who may be able to help 👀

The pallets are used for live fire training and help give our firefighters realistic scenarios to learn their craft and hone their skills.
