Ready to learn more about fostering?

Our online information sessions are the ideal place to start, especially if you have lots of questions to ask.
Looking after children raises a lot of questions about how it would fit with your own situation. We will run through the basics of fostering, why Cambridgeshire children need families to look after them, on a short or long-term basis, and the different arrangements that may be appropriate for you.
You will hear stories from a local carer about what fostering means to them and the ways young people have enriched their own lives. There will also be lots of opportunities for you to ask any questions.

You don't need to prepare anything in advance. It's informal and relaxed and we're here to help.

Our next session is:
📅 Tuesday 16 June
⏰ 12pm - 1pm
🚩Online via Microsoft Teams: https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/foster-events

Here are some recommendations from our colleagues over at Cambridgeshire Libraries to take a look at this month.

We had a fantastic opportunity today to attend a 🇷🇴 Romanian Consulate community event in , where consular services were brought directly to local residents as part of a new, UK-wide pilot.

It was a pleasure to meet so many members of the community and to start important conversations about fostering.
🇬🇧 🤝 🇷🇴

There are many children and young people who need safe, caring homes. We need foster carers from diverse backgrounds who can make a life-changing difference.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering or would like to find out more, we would love to hear from you.
See www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/fostering or contact us on 0800 052 0078.

A big thank you to Romanian Consul Amalia Manole for the invitation and for supporting this opportunity to connect with the community.

✨ During Foster Care Fortnight, we're shining a light on everyday experiences of fostering in Cambridgeshire

For 49 years, Tom and Hazel have dedicated their lives to fostering vulnerable children — and they’ve never once taken a break. ❤️

Since beginning their fostering journey in 1977, they have cared for more than 150 children, including babies just days old and children with complex health needs and disabilities.

And they haven’t only supported vulnerable children — they’ve also been there for fellow foster carers. ❤️

The couple have regularly provided respite care, opening their home to children for weekends and short stays so other carers could take a much-needed break.

Their kindness, experience and willingness to help others has made a huge difference to fostering families across the years.

Even now, at 87 and 78 years old respectively, they continue fostering with the same passion and commitment they started with nearly five decades ago.

When asked what keeps them motivated after nearly five decades, their answer is simple: “We love what we do.”

Looking back on their incredible journey, they say fostering has given them a “fantastic life” and that they feel truly “blessed”.

💜Thank you to Hazel and Tom for your dedication. 💜

Your story is a powerful reminder of the life-changing difference foster carers make every single day.
