We're super-proud of our fantastic group of CHFT maternity colleagues, who successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge last week, raising more than £11k so far!

Ward Clerk, Alice Baxter, said: "Walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks was tough enough, but battling torrential rain, relentless wind and thick fog made it a real test of mental and physical strength. There were moments when every step felt harder than the last, but whenever we struggled, we reminded ourselves why we were doing it.

"Sometimes it’s not about the conditions you’re facing, it’s about the reason you’re willing to keep going. Raising money for the Bereavement Suite carried us through every challenging mile and we are so proud to have raised £11,000 for a cause that will make such a difference at CRH."

Congratulations to Advanced Practitioner in Radiology, Aisling Spencer, who has successfully completed a two-year training programme and is now qualified as an Independent MRI Reporting Radiographer for MRI knees and lumbar spine.

This fantastic achievement will help increase reporting capacity, support faster diagnoses and improve patient pathways across our radiology services.

A huge thank you to Aisling for her dedication and commitment, and to her mentor Nikhil Bhuskute, for his support throughout the journey. Well done, Aisling! 👏

💬 We are looking at how we offer patients more choice in how they receive their cancer care. 💬

Some cancer treatments, like medicines you swallow as tablets and injections that go into the skin, can be given safely outside of the home.

We would like to know what you think about having cancer treatment in a community clinic, or even at home in the future. Feedback is welcome from everyone.

Complete this short survey and help shape the future of cancer services ➡️ https://buff.ly/gknEN4Q

One year on from introducing Martha’s Rule at CHFT, we’re proud to see how this nurse-led initiative is strengthening the early recognition of deterioration and improving communication across our inpatient wards.

Martha’s Rule gives patients, families, carers and staff a clear way to raise urgent concerns if they feel a patient’s condition is worsening.

Over this past year, teams across the Trust have worked together to create clear escalation routes, improve awareness and use digital tools to track progress and support learning.

Thank you to everyone involved in making Martha’s Rule a success at CHFT.

🍀 Good luck to the members of our maternity team who are tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks today. They're completing the challenge to raise money for our Maternity Bereavement Appeal 🍀

At 6 o'clock this morning a team of our wonderful midwives and maternity support workers laced up their walking boots and set off to brave the Yorkshire 3 Peaks - all to raise money for our Maternity Bereavement Appeal.

They will walk over 24 miles and climb over 5000 feet over the course of the day and we have heard that they have already reached the summit of Peak No 1 Pen-Y-Ghent, had breakfast and are heading towards Whernside.

If you would like to know more about their story and would like to donate, please see the link below and share away. They have already passed £8000 which is absolutely amazing!!

Our Volunteering Service is looking for donations of colouring books, pens, pencils and other child-friendly activities to help restock the Trolley of Sunshine our volunteers bring to patients on the children's ward. Read more in the post below 👇

💛 Can You Help Restock Our Trolley of Sunshine 💛

When a child is in hospital, life can suddenly become filled with worry, uncertainty, and long days away from home, friends, school, and everything familiar. For parents and carers, every moment is focused on their child's wellbeing, often leaving little time to pause, rest, or simply breathe.

That's where our Trolley of Sunshine brings a little magic.

Each week, our incredible volunteers visit every bedside on the Children's and Young People's Ward at Calderdale Royal Hospital, ensuring no child is left out. For children who are unable to leave their bed, the trolley brings fun, creativity, distraction, and joy directly to them.

Filled with crafts, colouring, painting, bubbles, books, puzzles, games, Play-Doh, sticker books, and so much more, these play sessions give children the chance to do something so important — just be children. For a little while, hospital appointments, treatments, and worries can be replaced with smiles, laughter, imagination, and play.

These precious moments also offer parents and carers a chance to catch their breath, enjoy seeing their child smile, and find a brief moment of respite during what can be an incredibly difficult time.

Sadly, our Trolley of Sunshine is running low and needs your help.

We would be incredibly grateful for donations of:
• Colouring books, pencils, felt tips, crayons
• Puzzles and activity books
• Children's reading books
• Bubbles
• Board games and card games
• Craft kits and make-your-own activities
• Stickers, glitter items, build your own headbands and creative supplies
• Plain sketch paper
• Card Games - Uno, Dobble
• Small toys and sensory items

Every donation, no matter how small, helps us continue creating moments of happiness, comfort, and magic for children and young people in hospital.

Together, we can help ensure that every child has something to smile about, and every family feels a little less alone.

Thank you for helping us keep the magic alive.

Donations can be delivered in person to Volunteering Services, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, Charity Office, HD3 3EA

🌿 It’s Great Big Green Week! 🌿

To celebrate, we’re highlighting the work of Green Champion, Poppy Bray, who helps embed sustainability into procurement decisions across CHFT. From encouraging suppliers to meet sustainability standards to reducing waste and considering product lifecycles, procurement plays and important role in supporting a greener NHS.

A huge thank you to Poppy and all our Green Champions for helping creative positive change.
