Pleasure to be invited to the Alan Lewis seed fund awards today. Congratulations to the 4 winners who I am sure will go on to grow their business creating jobs and supporting the local economy. Support and recognition in the early days of any business can only be positive, so thanks to the 3m BIC and the university for organising the event.

Using our ward budget we have commissioned two police officers to do a 3 hour tour once a month for the next year. These officers will be concentrating on traffic issues such as speeding, poor driving, uninsured and un road worthy vehicles. if you have any suggestions as to were they should be spending their time please e mail me at [email protected]. In partnership with Kirklees Council, Yorkshire Sculpture Park is offering 1000 free tickets to Kirklees residents* on 16 and 17 November 2024.

Take time out to explore art and nature and boost your wellbeing as we head into winter. Discover exhibitions in the indoor galleries, follow the Myths, Magic and Haunting Tales Trail and refuel in the cafés with seasonal specials. YSP is open from 10am–6pm and parking is FREE. If you live outside of the Kirklees region, general admission tickets can be purchased here.

*Ts & Cs: Tickets available for YSP general admission on 16 and 17 November 2024 only. YSP is open 10am–6pm, indoor galleries close at 4pm, last entry 5pm. Colne Valley Home Made Market - 23-24 November @ Colne Valley Museum:
There will be a selection of around 12 local makers, crafters, and artists located around the museum. Open from 12 noon - 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday, there will be an entrance charge of £2.50 per adult which also includes a raffle ticket, to be drawn just before 4pm on each day.

I wanted to remind you of the significant engineering works which will be taking place on the line between Huddersfield, Dewsbury, and Leeds, affecting rail services on weekdays between Monday 21 October and Friday 22 November.

During these works Transpennine Route Upgrade will:

• Install overhead line equipment, including foundations, masts, and gantries between Morley and Leeds
• Lay over 3,300 meters of new track
• Renew drainage between Cottingley and Leeds




During this time we will make the following changes to our weekday services;

Liverpool Lime Street – Manchester – Newcastle
This service will not be calling at Dewsbury and will be running on an amended timetable. Journey times may be increased. Change at Huddersfield or Leeds for travel to and from Dewsbury.

Manchester Airport – Manchester – Saltburn
This service will start/terminate at Manchester Victoria instead of Manchester Airport. It will not be calling at Dewsbury and will be running on an amended timetable. Change at Huddersfield or Leeds for travel to and from Dewsbury.

Manchester Piccadilly – Hull
This service will be running between Hull and Leeds only. Change at Leeds for onward travel.

Manchester Piccadilly - Leeds (local stopping services):
Additional peak time and evening local stopping services that run between Manchester Piccadilly – Huddersfield – Leeds will only run between Manchester Piccadilly and Huddersfield.

The following bus services will be in operation;
Huddersfield – Stockport – Manchester Airport
An hourly bus replacement service will be running between these stations. Estimated total journey time: 80 minutes.

Huddersfield – Leeds (local stopping)
An hourly bus replacement service will be running between Huddersfield and Leeds, also calling at Deighton, Mirfield, Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury, Batley, Morley, Cottingley. Estimated total journey time: 88 minutes.

Huddersfield – Dewsbury – Leeds
An hourly bus replacement service will be running between these stations. Estimated total journey time: 65 minutes.

Dewsbury – Leeds
An hourly bus replacement service will be running between Dewsbury and Leeds. Estimated journey time: 25 minutes.

Any person who contravenes or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of

I should be pleased if you would arrange for a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order to be
raised for the above location.
a) I attach a copy plan indicating the extent of the restriction and the diversionary route.
b) Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
c) Vehicular traffic will have access to the points of the restriction.
d) The Diversionary route will be:

Please be advised emergency repair works have commenced on Scar Lane, Milnsbridge on the railway bridge by the junction with Botham Hall Road.

The emergency works commenced on the (09/10//24).

The traffic management for these works is a road closure between the hours of 21:00 – 06:00. The diversion route will be;

Botham Hall Road, Royd Street, Crow Lane, Scar Lane and vice versa

Network Rail anticipate all works will be completed by 12/10/24
