Poets and poetry-lovers are invited to come along to Poetry in the Park in the Greenhead Park Pavilion by the bowling greens on Saturday 20 June.

These friendly poetry reading sessions, organised by the Albert Poets and the Friends of Greenhead Park, are free and open to all. Bring along three or four short poems to read – your own or by poets you like – or just come and listen if you prefer.

Don't miss the 2026 Marshian Arts Trail - an exciting programme celebrating work by Huddersfield artists in and around the Marsh area from Saturday 6 to Sunday 21 June. The Greenhead Park conservatory is one of the venues with a colourful ‘Save the Rain Forest’ exhibition and a display of bonsai (June 6 - 13).

Celebrate Carers Week 2026 in Greenhead Park on Tuesday 9 June, 11am to 3pm. It's all happening in the area near the tennis courts and top cafe. Everyone is welcome to visit the information stalls and join in free wellbeing and nature-based activities such as making bug and bee hotels, mindful meditation, music making with HOOT and much more!

The S2R Greenhead Park Outdoor Volunteers group will be working in the park on Tuesday too and extra helpers with weeding and planting would be very welcome. Tools are provided - just come dressed for gardening.

Come and join us and The Friends of Greenhead Park this Friday (the 8th May) from 10am - 12noon in Greenhead Park for a gentle, relaxed morning of sketching in the outdoors. Take a moment to slow down, notice the world around you and find a bit of calm in nature.

Suitable for ages 18+ and all ability levels. Please bring something to draw on and with and wear clothing and footwear suitable for the outdoors.

If you fancy having a go at croquet, come along to a taster session in Greenhead Park on National Croquet Day, Sunday 3 May.

Members of Huddersfield Croquet Club will be on the lower bowling green from 10am to 2pm ready to show you how to play, with all the equipment you need provided. Just make sure to wear flat-soled shoes.

Huddersfield Croquet Club are back out on the Greenhead Park greens again after the winter break. They are always keen to meet new players of all ages and to introduce them to croquet.

Beginners can join a five week introductory course starting on Tuesday 12 May at 6.15pm. All the equipment is provided - you just need a pair of flat-soled shoes. Contact Club Secretary Rena Souten on [email protected] for further details or to book a place.

The park was packed with people enjoying the sunshine today, but we weren't happy to see groups of young teens riding fast and recklessly along the main paths on bikes and electric scooters.

Riding bikes in the park is allowed, but only with respect for the safety of other park users, especially elderly people and young children. However it is illegal to ride a privately owned electric scooter on public land including pavements, roads and parks. You can read more about the rules and penalties here
