Important Update ‼️

Based on developments in the weather forecast, we are planning to open all college centres to all staff and students on Monday 13 January. Students sitting BTEC exams should attend as normal, and any individual department changes to this will be communicated to students by their tutor.

This week, we have been able to offer over 600 students the opportunity to sit their exams at our Waterfront Huddersfield Centre and Springfield Sixth Form Centre. This demonstrated the unwavering commitment of our students, and staff who have supported them this week – thank you.

Any changes to these plans will be communicated before 7am on Monday 13 January.

Important Update ‼️

Due to continued adverse weather conditions, we will be opening our Waterfront Huddersfield Centre and Springfield Sixth Form Centre for EXAMS ONLY tomorrow (Friday 10 January). All of our other centres will remain closed.

Students with BTEC exams should try to make their way to these centres but only if they can do so safely. Students due to sit an exam at Pioneer Higher Skills Centre should make their way to Springfield Sixth Form Centre to sit their exam instead. Students who are unable to get to their exam should contact their tutor as soon as possible.

The college will remain closed to students not sitting exams and lessons will be moved online where possible.

We will communicate any changes by 7am, Friday 10 January, should weather conditions worsen.

Journeys
Commemorating 200 Years of Technical Education Across Our Kirklees Community

2025 marks 200 years of technical education in Kirklees. Kirklees College has been an important part of this journey towards developing a skilled workforce, welcoming families to our region and improving life chances for adults and young people alike.

To commemorate this, we are inviting college students and staff to contribute to an anthology which celebrates journeys. Entries are welcome, as follows:

• Short fiction, poetry or memoir (max. 500 words, which can be written in a home language)
• Black and white art work
• Black and white photography (high resolution)

Your entry must be submitted by email to [email protected], with Anthology as a subject heading, and receipt will be acknowledged. The final deadline for submissions is Friday 20 December 2024; successful entrants will be notified via email by Friday 14 February 2025.

All entrants will receive a copy of the Journeys anthology, which will be distributed to Kirklees College governors, key industry and community leaders and other college stakeholders. Please join in helping us to make this a truly inclusive publication which reflects our college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence.

If you require any further information or confirmation regarding this project, please email [email protected]
