"We’ve given it all away!” decries Lee Anderson in his latest Reform UK video designed to play into his working class roots.

The hollowing out of Ashfield communities is the direct result of Thatcherite policies.

Thatcherite policies where the market comes first, communities come second, and public assets are there to be sold off has a name...it is called NEO-LIBERAL economics.

Neo-liberal economics is the exact same brand of politics that his boss Farage subscribes to.

So, nice try, Lee Anderson appealing to people’s nostalgia. But some of us see through your hypocrisy.

For once, we agree with Lee Anderson’s piece in the Chad.

Too many Ashfield Independent councillors have gone AWOL, despite having 20 months left to serve. It is not good enough!

Perhaps in next week's Chad piece, Lee Anderson could give us his views on illicit foreign donations.😉

Residents of Ashfield are suffering and nothing is being done about it.

In July, Ashfield District Council approved the Sherwood Business Park data centre at Annesley. A that was decision was made behind closed doors despite 60+ objections from residents.

Local people should have a say in whether Ashfield becomes a home for more data centres — and what safeguards should be in place.

We’re trying to force a debate Full Council, calling for a district-wide public poll and clear guard rails for future data centre developments.

We need 1,500 signatures to get this heard.

Should Ashfield be a Home for Data Centres?

People are concerned about Ashfield District Council's decision to approve a new 20 MW data centre at Annesley. This comes at a time when some local residents have reported problems with their water supply, including discoloured tap water.

Data centres need huge amounts of drinking water to keep their equipment cool. Some estimates suggest the new data centre could use around 6% of the area's total domestic water use in Ashfield.

The Government is considering changes to the law that would priortise water to data centres over residents during times of shortage.

Lee Anderson is grumbling again about Reform UK being compared to a fascist political party.

Fascism isn't one single thing, it is a pattern of ideas, behaviours and warning signs.

Let's see if Reform UK makes the list...

1. POWERFUL NATIONALISM

THINK! Flags and banners on lampposts.

THINK! Nostalgia for a supposedly better past — “back to the pits” and a lost Britain.

THINK! “We want our country back.”

2. DISDAIN FOR HUMAN RIGHTS

THINK! Reform UK’s policy of withdrawing from the European Convention on Human Rights.

3. IDENTIFICATION OF ENEMIES AS A UNIFYING CAUSE

THINK! Migrants portrayed as a threat to the country.

THINK! Trans people and people claiming benefits becoming political targets.

THINK! Those who challenge this rhetoric being portrayed as the enemy rather than fellow citizens with a different view.
