A beautiful Autumnal afternoon, glorious sunshine across the Millpond.

Our volunteer gardeners were hard at it again this morning, cutting back, w**d clearing, thinning out the Oxide Daisies. Surprising how quickly they grow with a little bit of rain and some sunshine.

Massive thanks to them all, it really is appreciated by us all at the Reserve and our visitors.

Please note there maybe some disturbance from Sandpiper hide for the next 5 days.

From Friday 9th October, we a contractor on site who will be carrying out maintenance work on the scrapes within Wet Meadow at the north end of the reserve. These works will involve de-silting and re-profiling the scrapes to create valuable feeding habitat for wading birds such as Common Snipe, while also providing ideal egg-laying habitat for a wide range of aquatic invertebrates. By restoring these important wetland features, we can continue to support the rich biodiversity that makes the reserve such a special place. We apologise for the disturbance from Sandpiper Hide but please feel free to go and see what is going on. The works will be completed by Monday 12th October and there is no restriction on access whilst the works are being completed.

From Thursday 1st October we will be operating our winter hours.

Open at 10.00 café closes at 15.00, last orders 14.45 for hot drinks, Reserve, car park and toilets close at 16.00.

A misty start to the day, soon burnt off to a very hot morning for our gardeners.

Lots of w**ds rehoused to the compost heap, brambles and nettles cut back on the paths.

Our grateful thanks as always to our volunteers for all their hard work.

CAFÉ CLOSED WEDS 23RD SEPT

The café will be closed on Weds 23rd Sept all day as new lights are being installed.

The Reserve, car park and toilets will be open as usual.

A sunny Sunday afternoon stroll around the Reserve. Marsh Frogs still in vocal evidence on the pond in Shelley Garden.

So lovely to hear the birds chirping in the trees, the waterfowl on the Millpond calling too.

Early signs of Autumn appearing too.

A few signs of fungi appearing all around if you closely.
