We're pleased to be introducing you to the people behind it all at Fostering West Sussex over the coming weeks! 😊

To kick things off, meet our fostering Marketing and Communications team who help raise awareness, inspire people to consider whether they could foster, and ultimately to find more loving homes for the children we care for. We’re proud to introduce the people who make it happen:

➡️ Nikki oversees all recruitment marketing, from printed materials and digital campaigns to community engagement and events — helping us reach more people who could make a difference.
➡️ Jaz is part of our extended team at White Space Agency, and manages our digital presence — ensuring our website is easy to use and creating inspiring content across Google and social media.
➡️ Georgia is our brilliant Events Coordinator, making sure we’re out and about in the community — answering questions and planting those all-important first seeds of interest in fostering.
➡️ Olivia is our safe pair of hands for all post-approval communications — bringing carers together through monthly newsletters, training bulletins, and managing our fostering WhatsApp community.

Together, we’re passionate about connecting with our community, inspiring more people to open up their heart and home, and supporting our incredible Foster Carers.

If you'd like to join our fostering family, we'd love to hear from you!

It is a heartbreaking reality for many of the children we have cared for across West Sussex that, due to their birth family’s health, they need foster care. 🫶

We are looking for someone with a space in their heart and home to welcome Ben, Luke, and Tom into their family.

Due to Mum experiencing serious health issues and receiving ongoing palliative care, we are seeking long-term Foster Carers for three brothers, Tom, aged 11, Ben, aged 9, and Luke, aged 4. They have all expressed how important their brothers are to them and keeping them together will nurture their bond further.

Tom has taken on something of a paternal role for his younger brothers and needs trusted adults with whom he can share his worries. He enjoys going to school and has a small friendship group who he spends time with at break. He also likes playing games on his console with his brothers.

Ben loves playing football and going to the park. He needs strong routines and likes to be told of any changes to regular plans to help reduce his anxiety. He has processing difficulties and is currently waiting for an EHCP assessment.

Luke enjoys nursery and is looking forward to starting school in September, though he will need a good bedtime routine, and lots of sleep so he has enough energy for learning. He needs safe adults to talk to and to care of him so he can communicate his worries to them when he feels sad.

If you, or anyone you know, would like to foster and help children like Ben, Luke and Tom, we'd love to hear from you today ➡️ https://fosteringwestsussex.org.uk/contact-us/

Please note that children's names have been changed to protect their identities and the photo is a stock library image.

Supported Lodgings Host Kay is celebrating 5 years of fostering, and we couldn't be more pleased to shine a spotlight on her! 😊🎉 We asked Kay's Supervising Social Worker, Alex, for some words, and here's what she had to say...

“Kay has been a Supported Lodgings Host since May 2021, and is an extremely conscientious, dedicated, and caring host. In this time, she has shown willingness to learn new skills and adapt to challenging situations with a smile. Her current young person was very poorly when they came to live with her. Kay’s care and nurturing support has helped manage their condition and medications independently and she has become somewhat of an expert! Kay has also navigated the language barrier very well and her young person has learnt so much from her that she is now teaching other young people English. Not only has Kay’s guidance and encouragement enabled her current young person to attain confidence and work towards their goals, but Kay has also given safety, security, and trust to a young woman. This is an amazing achievement. Kay never gives up and always finds an alternative route if one is blocked. Her determination to help and think ‘outside the box’ for all her young people is exemplary. Kay, you are amazing! I thoroughly enjoy working with Kay and value the trusting relationship we have built."

Thanks to fantastic local people like Kay, we can provide young people aged 16-24 with Supported Lodgings care arrangements that make a life-changing difference as they prepare for adulthood 🫶
