We and the Friends of Warnham Local Nature Reserve are delighted to announce that the new boardwalk is now open and looking amazing.

It's been a long process and the winter weather was certainly sent to try us, but we would like to say a massive thank you to Gary Collier and his team for their hard work and perseverance.

We will be posting more about the project in the coming weeks, but for now we are just pleased to say it is open for all our visitors to enjoy. 🎉😍

Attree Hide Closure
Sunday 31 May 2026

Please be aware that the Attree Hide will be closed to the public this Sunday (31st May), while we add in final touches to our brand-new wall mural. 🎨😍

It is taking one extra day – but we can’t wait to share the finished results with you soon, as it looks fab!

The Discovery Hub will remain open throughout and all other hides on the reserve will be open as normal.
If this will affect your visit, please contact the Reserve prior to travel.

We are looking for an Assistant Countryside Warden (Fixed Term Contract) to work across our Parks and Countryside estate, helping our warden team manage both urban and rural sites which are valuable for both wildlife and people.

This is a fun and varied role, that will include practical habitat and estate management, working with our small herd of livestock, biological recording and working with the public, volunteers and contractors.
As this role involves driving council vehicles, it is essential that you have a full UK and current driving licence.

🪶 New Tern Raft at Warnham Local Nature Reserve 🪶

We’re delighted to share that a brand-new Tern Raft has been installed at the Reserve, providing a larger and improved nesting area for Common Terns. The raft was supplied and installed by Green Future Building, with fantastic support from our Countryside Warden Team.

A huge thank you to the Friends of Warnham Local Nature Reserve, whose generous funding made this conservation project possible. We’re excited to see how our Common Terns make use of their new home this season! 💚🌿

Our thanks go to Paul Shergold for taking the photos throughout the day 📸

The early season moth trapping effort on the Reserve has paid off with hundreds of moths being recorded in January, February and March. Our commonest two species were Common Quaker and Small Quaker but we also had some early season treats in the form of Blossom Underwing, several Acleris literana and Yellow Horned. Did you know that at Warnham Local Nature Reserve we usually catch around 500 species of moth per year!
