Help Shape the Future for Young People in West Sussex

West Sussex County Council is developing a new Young People’s Strategy and are seeking views of young people, parents / carers, communities and organisations on the proposed priorities for the strategy. The strategy will help shape leisure-time and recreational opportunities for young people aged 11 to 19, and up to 25 for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), over the next five years....

Stop. Think. Could this be AI?

Artificial intelligence can give criminals more tools to impersonate people and organisations, making some scams harder to spot. Fraudsters may use AI to clone voices, create realistic images, send highly personalised messages, or impersonate family members, businesses and public figures. Before responding to an unexpected request, ask yourself "Could this be AI?" Always verify requests using trusted contact details, be cautious of any urgent demands for money or personal information, and trust your instincts if something doesn't feel right....

Beware of scam calls from fraudsters falsely claiming to be from the “Sussex Police Cyber Crime Unit”

Sussex Police have reported that on Saturday 10th October they became aware of scammers targeting members of the public and requesting personal information, including passwords and other sensitive details. It has been reported that the caller ID may appear to show a legitimate police phone number, however, these calls are being made from alternative sources. Remember Sussex Police will never ask for your passwords, bank details, PIN numbers or other sensitive financial information over the phone....

**UPDATE FROM SOUTHERN WATER**
Burst water main at Hardham Water Supply Works
I wanted to provide a further update regarding the burst water main at our Hardham Water Supply Works, which supplies parts of the Horsham and Billingshurst area.
Repair works are continuing on site, with our teams making good progress while maintaining supplies across the network.
The mitigation measures put in place have worked effectively, and importantly, no customers have lost supply as a result of this incident. Reservoir levels remain stable, and we continue to monitor the network closely to ensure resilience is maintained as repairs progress.
We remain well positioned to manage the situation, with robust operational measures in place and contingency plans available should they be needed. Bottled water deliveries to vulnerable customers and other priority sites are now complete. Based on current conditions, we are confident that supplies can continue to be maintained while the repair is completed.
As the situation remains stable and the measures in place are working, we do not plan to provide any further updates on this incident unless there is a significant change, or when repairs are complete.

Burst water main at Hardham Water Supply Works
Please find an update from Southern Water on the burst water main at the Hardham Water Works below.
`I wanted to provide an update regarding the burst water main at our Hardham Water Supply Works, which supplies parts of the Horsham and Billingshurst area.
Excavation works at the burst site are starting, now that vegetation around the burst location has been cleared to allow safe access.
We are monitoring reservoir levels closely, and supplies are currently being maintained through network rezoning and other operational measures. Importantly, there are currently no confirmed customers out of supply.
As a precaution, we are continuing bottled water deliveries to vulnerable customers and other priority sites. We also have bottled water stations ready to open at short notice if any customers experience a loss of supply.
While we’re planning for a range of scenarios, the measures currently in place are successfully maintaining supplies across the affected area.
Based on current conditions, we do not anticipate issuing a further update this evening. We will, however, communicate promptly if there is any material change to the situation or an increased risk of customers losing supply.'

LGR Update Statement

Horsham District have today released the following. Today the Government has announced that it is pausing the LGR programme whilst it reviews if decisions already taken, and those to be made, are the right ones. No timeline has been given to local authorities as to when the review is to be carried out or when it will be concluded. West Sussex councils have reacted to the latest development with disappointment, that a process that has been ongoing for over 18 months has yet to be decided upon....

North Horsham Parish Council to support Option 2 of the Community Governance Review

Horsham District Council is asking for residents’ views on a proposal to abolish North Horsham Parish Council and allow it to be merged with the newly created Horsham Town Council, which was only established by Horsham District Council in April this year. This is Option 1 of the Community Governance Review Consultation. North Horsham Parish Council did not request this governance review and only became aware of the proposal when the Agenda was published for Horsham District Council’s Governance Committee Meeting on 22nd July 2026....

There is still time to have your say on the future of North Horsham Parish

Horsham District Council would like to thank all those who submitted their thoughts earlier this summer on a review of local parish boundaries across the District and their governance. Changes to a number of parish boundaries and other arrangements have been recommended to this parish following feedback from the first consultation. The Council is now asking you for your thoughts on these proposals....
