Head to Horsham’s Carfax this Sunday 6 September for a live cookery theatre featuring top Sussex chefs! 🧑‍🍳

Local chefs will be cooking their signature dishes on our live cookery theatre at The Big Nibble, a fantastic celebration event of all things Sussex food and drink. Come along to watch them showcase their skills using Sussex produce, whilst enjoying exceptional Sussex food and drink stalls alongside live family entertainment.

Confirmed chefs and local businesses include: Venessa Alexander (Firebird Brewery), Philippa Vine (My Seasonal Kitchen), Matt Gillan, Joshua Mann (Camellia at South Lodge), Tom Bartle (Botanica at South Lodge), Tom Hayter (The Seaview), Tom Denman (Chef’s Farm), Lawrence McCarthy (Felix Bistro), David Howard (Cabin Pressure Spirits), and Ian Brunsden (Orla Restaurant).

Merchant Navy Day was marked today (3 September) in Horsham’s Carfax at the War Memorial.

Horsham District Council together with the Horsham branch of the Royal British Legion showed their support for the national ‘Fly the Red Ensign for Merchant Navy Day’ campaign by raising the British Merchant Navy’s official Red Ensign flag at Park House and laying wreaths at the War Memorial.

Wreaths were laid by Horsham District Council Chair Cllr Joanne Knowles and Horsham Branch Royal British Legion’s Chairman Zäl Rustom.

🎤 Horsham town centre came alive this summer as Horsham District Council’s Friday Lates entertainment programme transformed the Carfax into a vibrant hub of live music, great food and community spirit. With glorious weather throughout the season, thousands of residents and visitors headed into the town centre every Friday evening from June to August to enjoy the lively atmosphere.

The 2026 programme, which concluded on 28 August, proved to be one of the most successful yet, attracting record crowds to a diverse line-up of free live entertainment.

But the show is not completely over please look out for details of our Halloween and Christmas Lates events later in the year!

Just ONE WEEK until our brand new Ashington Learn to Bowl course! ⭐️

Running for five weeks in the Ashington Community Centre, the course is aimed at anyone that is interested in learning how to play Short Mat Bowls. With instructors on hand to help, it's ideal for complete beginners as well as those looking to improve their skills.

All the equipment is provided so you just need to bring flat shoes or slippers. There is a tea/coffee break halfway to chat and socialise with the other participants and instructors.

Improvements to the Bishopric area are set to move a step closer on 9 September when Members of the Horsham District Council's Communities and Place Policy Scrutiny Committee meet to review the latest designs and costs.

The scheme will improve connections between the John Lewis and Waitrose area and Horsham town centre while retaining the area's much-loved mature trees and waterfall feature.

Calling all job seekers to come along to the 2026 Horsham Jobs and Skills Fair! 📣

Horsham District Council is inviting local job seekers to come along to the Horsham District Jobs and Skills Fair on Wednesday 30 September 2026 from 3.30pm to 7.30pm at the Drill Hall in Denne Road, Horsham.

Jobseekers will be able to network with a broad range of employers and organisations from a variety of different industries who will be showcasing what they have on offer including paid work, voluntary work, apprenticeships and training opportunities.

This year amongst the many organisations who will be promoting their opportunities are: Benchmark Capital, the Royal Air Force, Mountjoy, Assurity Consulting, Fowler Swimming Pools, Places Leisure, SGN Horsham and Tesla Engineering.

What a way to end Summer's Friday Lates for 2026! 🎶🥁

Last Friday, The Dhol Collective brought an energetic Bhangra Night to the Carfax, filling Horsham town centre with music, colour and dancing. It was a brilliant final gig and a fantastic end to a summer of live entertainment.

A huge thank you to everyone who performed, traded, supported the events or came along to join the fun. You helped make Friday nights in Horsham this suumer something special.
