Horsham District Council’s Chair Cllr Joanne Knowles went along to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Shop today (22 October) to officially declare it open. The Poppy Shop this year is in Swan Walk Shopping Centre outside Superdrug and is doing a roaring trade.

Horsham District Council raised The Royal Navy’s white Ensign Flag at Park House in Horsham to mark Trafalgar Day, celebrating the Navy’s victory at the Battle of Trafalgar on 21 October 1805.

On this day, The British Royal Navy defeated a combined French and Spanish fleet of 33 warships, thwarting Napoleon Bonaparte's attempt to invade Britain. The battle was a vital part of UK defence history and the maritime history of our country.

The Capitol has been officially handed back to Horsham District Council now that contractors Willmott Dixon Interiors have completed their extensive refurbishment work on the site.

The doors will reopen on 29 November for this year’s amazing panto Dick Wittington.

Pantomime tickets for the 2026 production of Dick Whittington are still available from the box office via The Capitol website.

The production offers the perfect opportunity to experience everything the newly transformed Capitol has to offer.

Storrington and Sullington Warden Chris and his colleague Ross, took a group of residents from the Cuppa and a Chat group, to Swanbourne Lake in Arundel for cream teas. The weather was perfect and a lovely morning was had by all. One of the residents said “I love coming here, my dad used to bring me here it brings back so many memories.” Everyone was so happy and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, with a big chorus of “when is the next one?”.

Hundreds of residents came together last week to enjoy our popular Winter Warm Up events!

Held at The Bridge Leisure Centre, Broadbridge Heath on 14 October and Chanctonbury Leisure Centre, Storrington on 15 October, the events welcomed residents aged 50 and over for two days packed with activities, advice, support and opportunities to connect with others in their communities.
