On Saturday afternoon one of our Road Policing Team stopped a car in Wragby, the driver was disqualified from holding a licence and has been prosecuted.
A short time later one of our response patrols stopped a car in the Spilsby area. The driver had no licence and also failed a roadside drugs test. The car was then searched and a quantity of drugs and knives were found in the car. The driver was arrested and the car was seized.

Following our previous post regarding St Mary's Churchyard (which got a lot of comments👀 ) officers were on patrol in the area this evening and stopped and searched an individual, resulting in the seizure of drugs. The offender will be dealt with through the appropriate criminal justice process.

This is exactly the type of behaviour we are targeting at this location. Our focus is not on those who wish to use the area lawfully and respectfully, but on those engaging in criminality and anti-social behaviour. We will continue to take action to ensure the churchyard remains a safe and welcoming space for the community.

Following reports of anti-social behaviour in St Mary’s Churchyard, Horncastle, we’ve increased our patrols in the area.

We’d also heard that the churchyard is quite the popular after-school meeting spot for some of our younger residents, so we thought we’d pop by for a bit of impromptu community engagement.

Strangely enough, upon our arrival, everyone suddenly seemed to remember they had somewhere else to be. 🤔

Whilst we’re a little disappointed that nobody wanted to stay and chat, we’re pleased to report that the area became remarkably quiet.

We’ll continue to carry out patrols in the area and encourage anyone with concerns about anti-social behaviour to report them to us.

Its been a very busy few days across the Horncastle area. On Wednesday our officers seized a vehicle believed to have been driven by a disqualified driver. On Thursday a drink driver was arrested at the scene of a road traffic collision. On Friday a drink driver was arrested and had their vehicle seized for driving without a licence or insurance. Saturday and Sunday were spent dealing with many other incidents across the Wolds. Incident demand has been high, but our officers have still found the time to be proactive and help towards keeping our community safe by targetting those that pose the greatest harm.

We have received several reports of children swimming in the weir at Watermill Lane, Horncastle.

Whilst the water may look inviting in these warm temperatures, we want to remind everyone that open water can be dangerous — even on hot days.
Please be aware of the risks:

⚠️ Cold water shock – sudden immersion can trigger involuntary gasping, panic and loss of breathing control, even in summer.

⚠️ Hidden currents and undertows – particularly dangerous around this weir, where water movement may not be visible from the surface. There are visible warnings for strong currents.

⚠️ Sudden drops and hidden hazards – including rocks, weeds, broken glass, submerged debris, pipes and other unseen dangers beneath the surface.

⚠️ Steep or slippery banks – making it easy to get in, but much harder to get out safely.

We understand young people want to cool down in warm weather, but we are asking parents, carers and the wider community to help us share this message and speak to children about the dangers of entering open water.

Please stay safe!

Today in Horncastle, officers stopped a vehicle after they were concerned regards the manner of driving. The driver provided a positive preliminary drug wipe at the roadside and was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

Whilst in custody, the driver failed to provide a further evidential sample and has since been charged with failing to provide.

Failing to provide is treated as seriously as driving under the influence and can result in the same penalties.

If you're found to be over the drink-drive limit, and/or driving while impaired by drugs, you can receive:
• a criminal record
• a maximum penalty of six months in prison
• an unlimited fine
• an automatic driving ban of at least one year (three years if you have been convicted twice in 10 years)

Other problems you may face include:
• an endorsement on your driving licence for 11 years
• an increased insurance premium
• if you drive for work, your employer will see your conviction on your licence
• trouble travelling to countries like the USA
