Don’t pot yo your plants after too much Rosé and in what turned from dusk into dark pretty quickly. Again I am no gardening influencer and if I was, I would’ve made a lot better job of this. I bought the hydrangeas a couple of weeks ago and really wanted my Kitchen door to look a bit more appealing. There used to be a horrible fir tree, actually maybe two fir Trees either side of the door and they were so ugly and if you ever brushed past them on a rainy day, which as I live in the North West is pretty much every day and so I cut them down and for ages we’ve had nothing there. I’ve tried the old little pot or whatever and finally I thought “ I am going to buy some bigger pots and get some hydrangeas, they will look nice 👀👀I love hydrangeas anyway I will have to have another go at them.

Watch out fit check incoming…I mean I am covered in burrs I look like I should be sleeping in the compost. But in reality this is what I wear and will probably keep wearing in the garden for the rest of the week! Enjoy

Been scrolling garden accounts and everyone’s dressed like they’re about to be interviewed. Whilst I am never going to be a garden influencer, I keep manky t-shirts and holey jumpers for gardening, everyone else seems to be wearing their Sunday best (I mean I have also gardened in my best dress, but it wasn’t wise and unintentional!) anyway it is raining so I am hiding inside.

Hornby Castle Open Garden Weekend is this Saturday and Sunday, 16th & 17th May — open 10am to 4pm both days.
A few people have asked whether we open for charity. The honest answer is: not at the moment. The admission goes directly towards maintaining the gardens and the house — it’s what keeps this place going. We do hope to support charitable causes in the future, and we do hold charitable events from time to time, but right now, every penny goes back into the grounds.
We’d love to see you this weekend. History talk at 12 noon each day, plants for sale, dogs welcome on leads, and parking in the cow field.

Craft fair being held in the village on Saturday and the village gardens are also open as a separate event this weekend. Should be a wonderful weekend in Hornby
