Recycling – Battery Recycling

When recycling your batteries, please place them in a clear plastic bag, so they can easily be seen by our crews in your recycling box and put in the correct compartment in the vehicles.

This helps prevent fire risk in our vehicles, at our depot and the Energy from Waste Plant (EFW) in Exeter.

Please do not put your batteries inside a cardboard box or wrap them in paper, as they can get missed and mixed up with paper and cardboard in the recycling vehicle, the depot and the plant.

Please visit our website for further information relating to recycling and disposal at: https://eastdevon.gov.uk/recycling-and-waste/recycling-and-waste-information/a-z-of-recycling-and-disposals/

Thank you for recycling your batteries with care, to help prevent risk to our staff, vehicles, depot and plant.

An East Devon resident repaid in full more than £25,000 of falsely claimed Council Tax Reduction, alongside a £1,000 penalty, following a fraud investigation into an undeclared change in household circumstances.

The case is one of the largest Council Tax Reduction fraud investigations resolved by East Devon District Council (EDDC) in recent years. In this case, the resident involved admitted that they had failed to report to EDDC that an additional person was living in the house for more than 10 years, which made them ineligible for the discount.

Due to the residents’ cooperation during the investigation, and their willingness to pay, the council issued a financial penalty, rather than pursuing prosecution.
