National Trust The Courts Garden Share Wiltshire's best-kept secret

Enjoy this classic early 20th century garden, laid out in a series of yew-hedged 'rooms' with neo-Georgian highlights such as the conservatory and temple. Take a stroll in the shade and tranquility of the arboretum or why not treat yourself to a delicious lunch or cream tea in our elegant tea room.

Meet the Courts' newest garden tool, and no offence to trowels and hedge-trimmers but this one has a little more personality.

The robot mower can mow the entire lawn in one night, knows where all the edges are, stops for wildlife (and stray feathers!) and takes itself off to 'bed' each morning to charge just as the garden team arrive. Such a handy helper needs a name, look out for the polling box near its charging port to add your nomination.

Bees and tadpole spotting in the garden this week. Some plants are buzzier than others, with the bees enjoying this apple blossom as well as the wisteria which is trailing up the side of the mansion again.

What wildlife have you spotted on your visit?

Tulip appreciation post 🌷

We've been enjoying a few weeks of these beauties at the Courts now. Did you know each colour represents something different? Red for love, white for forgiveness, yellow for happy friendships and pink for good wishes.

The snake's head fritillary is so called because it resembles a snake, elegantly rising from the ground. What do you think?

Like many of the wildflowers that once swept across the countryside these are less common than they used to be. Find this patch near the forest school area as you walk from the arboretum.

Today marks the spring equinox, the astronomical start of spring for the northern hemisphere. It's certainly felt that way in the garden today!

Pictured here some of the many varieties of narcissus in the garden, Actaea (orange rimmed cup) and Jenny (swept back petals).
