Lawrence Benson is back at Honley library again! This time will be a talk about the Tuskegee Airmen, a talented and courageous team of African American fighter pilots who fought in the second world war. Come learn about these men and their impact on the Civil Rights movement at Honley Library on the 16th of June.

Reminder!
There will be no babies into books this week (12th June) due to volunteer commitments.
We will be back on Friday 19th June.
Due to the library building work, this will be our last session until the library re-opens.

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY....

*Saturday 20th June* will be the last open day at Honley Library for an unspecified time, whilst the building work breaks through into the existing space. We will be closed from Monday June 22nd 2026 until we are ready to welcome you back.

There will be alot of cleaning and restocking to do after the building is ready from a construction point of view, so please bare with our fabulous team of volunteers (who have worked tirelessly for over three years to raise the funds, write bids, host fundraising events to get us this far).

Keep an eye out for updates. During the closure, you will not be able to order books to be collected at Honley.

We will keep you all updated using posters, email and social media (and a Town Crier if I could find one).

Building work continues apace at the library (see the photos).

Last week we had to work on a gas pipe that was discovered unexpectedly durig foundation works. That's now sorted, so building can recommence. Thank you all for your patience during the building works.

We're all looking forward to the space being unveiled to you all and inviting you to see the results.

Do you fancy trying different styles and genres and writing games?
Honley Library is hosting a Creative Writing Group for young people aged over 10.
The first session will be on Thursday 21st May at 4pm for around an hour. Further sessions are planned.
From Poetry to prose, journalism to blogs - come along and explore your ideas in a supportive environment!
All are welcome to this free event.

Wednesday: Monthly Digital Drop In. 10.00-12. Get your IT, computing, laptop or mobile phone questions answered by our expert Chris. Free advice to help you feel confident around digital technology.
Wednesday: Baby Massage 2-3pm with Karen. Please book in advance £45 for full course.
Thursday: Creative Writing club 4-5 pm. Our new group for young people interested in writing starts this Thursday! please book in advance.

Tuesday - Knit and Natter 1.30-2.30pm
Friday - Babies into Books 10.00-11.00am
Saturday - Lego Club and Crafts 10am-12
