A chat over a cup of tea, and taking the time to listen can make such a difference to someone’s day ☕

The little moments, and the reassurance that someone is there when you need them most.

At Anchusa Care, we’re proud to support people to stay safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes 💙

Behind every forget-me-not is a person with a lifetime of memories 💙

Throughout June, the Forget Me Not Appeal is raising funds to help people living with dementia and the people around them.

Nearly one million people in the UK are living with dementia, and many families face the challenges it can bring every day. The money raised helps provide support, advice and services when they are needed most, while also helping to fund vital dementia research.

To find out more or get involved, visit Alzheimer's Society and help support people affected by dementia this June.

The heat can be lovely… But it can be really tough for some of the people we support ☀️

It is crucial to make sure people are keeping cool, drinking enough and staying safe at home.

At Anchusa Care, we’re reminding our teams, families, and community to stay mindful of the risks heat can bring, especially for older adults and those living with health conditions.

💧 Encourage regular fluids and keep drinks within easy reach.
🌡️ Keep homes cool with ventilation, airflow, and shaded rooms.
⚠️ Watch for signs of dehydration or heat exhaustion, including dizziness, confusion, headaches, or dark urine.
💊 Ensure medication is stored safely and within recommended temperatures.
🏠 Reduce indoor heat where possible and avoid overloading plug sockets with cooling equipment.
❤️ Remember to support carers and care staff too; staying hydrated is key.

We are also reminding our teams to look out for signs someone might be struggling in the heat, like dizziness, confusion, headaches or tiredness.

Small actions really do make a big difference in keeping people safe during hot weather 💙

We spent some time at Westgate Shopping Centre in Stevenage this week talking all things Anchusa Care 💙

It was lovely to meet so many people from the local community, whether that was families looking for advice around care, people wanting to know more about the support we provide, or those interested in working in care themselves.

We also spoke to people about joining our team and the different roles we currently have available. Care can be such a rewarding job and it’s always lovely having genuine conversations with people who are interested in making a difference to someone’s day.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand for a chat. We appreciate all the support and interest shown throughout the day 😊

And of course a huge well done to Karen on winning the hamper!

We’re incredibly proud to be launching Dementia Friends 500 💙

This initiative is about helping create a more understanding, supportive and dementia friendly community, one where people living with dementia feel supported in everyday situations.

Over the next six months, we’ll be working with local businesses and organisations to deliver free Dementia Friends awareness sessions across our community.

If your workplace, team or organisation would like to be part of it, please get in touch, we would love to hear from you ✨

Dementia affects far more than memory. It can impact communication, confidence, behaviour, mood and everyday life in ways that are often misunderstood.

Recognising the early signs and seeking support early can make a real difference, helping people access the right care, advice and support sooner, while also helping families better understand what their loved one may be experiencing.

This Dementia Action Week, we’re encouraging people to keep having conversations, and help raise awareness.

Because a little more understanding can make a huge difference.

Dementia can affect everyone differently, and symptoms can look very different depending on the type of dementia someone is living with.

While memory loss is often the most recognised symptom, dementia can also affect language, mood, concentration, behaviour, movement and communication.

Understanding these differences is an important part of helping people feel supported, understood and treated with patience and dignity 💙

During Dementia Action Week, it’s important to remember that dementia doesn’t just affect memory. Isolation and loneliness can have a significant impact on well-being and quality of life.

Dementia cafés and support groups can provide a safe and supportive space for people living with dementia, as well as their families and carers, helping people stay connected, social, and supported. 💙

If you’re looking for support in your area, Alzheimer’s Society has a directory of local dementia cafés and services available online.
