What does the first Sensis Azure 2000s installation in the UK and Europe look like?...

At Waitrose Leyland Distribution Centre, ageing aspirating smoke detection units were creating reliability and maintenance challenges in a 420,000 sq ft logistics facility.

Working with Fire & Security, the site upgraded to Sensis Azure 2000s while keeping disruption to operations to a minimum.

The results highlight the importance of choosing the right replacement strategy when critical fire detection infrastructure reaches end of life.

This week, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming a work experience student to FFE, spending the week with our Marketing team and getting an insight into working life at FFE🔥

As we've reached the end of the week, we asked Courtney to share a few thoughts on her experience:

🗨️"Throughout the week, I have had the opportunity to film content, edit videos and create posts about products. I have worked with and met some wonderful people, who have welcomed me from the beginning, made me feel comfortable and helped me enjoy the experience.
I was also given a tour of the building, where I gained an insight into how our products are made, who is involved in the process and how different products need to be constructed differently.
I really enjoyed filming, as it got me to consider creative ways to shoot and present the Fireray Hub Reflective. Working with Emily to film has been helpful, as we were able to bounce ideas off each other.
The editing process, although long, has been rewarding, as the end result is a completed video showing customers how to use the product, from aligning the sensor to testing it for smoke and faults. Emily also gave me feedback on my videos, making suggestions for improvements and changes, which will help me develop my filming and editing skills in the future.
Overall, I have really enjoyed my week because of the welcoming people and environment. I would definitely recommend doing work experience here if you’re given the opportunity.”

Thank you, Courtney, for all your hard work this week. It’s been a pleasure having you with us, and we hope the experience has given you some useful skills and a great insight into what a career in marketing can involve. We wish you all the best for the future!

It's our final week of 'What's Wrong Wednesday'. We hope you enjoyed playing along. Did you spot the final error? 🙈

✅Answer:
An Ex d flame detector has been installed using a plastic cable gland instead of a suitably certified ATEX cable gland.

❓Why it matters:
Hazardous area equipment must always be installed using appropriately certified accessories to maintain the integrity of the explosion protection and comply with the relevant standards.

Happy Friday - are we ready for this week's reveal? 👀

✅Answer:
The surrounding surface is more reflective than the reflector itself.

❓Why it matters:
Highly reflective backgrounds can confuse the detector during alignment, potentially leading to alignment difficulties and fault conditions.

What would you do if faced with a fire emergency? 🆘

Our Fire Marshals recently put their skills to the test during an immersive VR fire safety training session hosted by Darren Robathan from Comply Sense at our Hitchin office.

Using the Vobling VR Fire Trainer, participants responded to a range of realistic fire scenarios, giving them the opportunity to practice decision-making and fire response techniques in a safe, engaging environment.

The session was a valuable opportunity to refresh knowledge, build confidence, and reinforce our ongoing commitment to workplace safety and continuous learning.

Week 4 of What's Wrong Wednesdays - let's see if you got it right!

✅Answer:
The reflectors have been installed too close together and are positioned near highly reflective surfaces.

❓Why it matters:
Incorrect reflector spacing and surrounding reflective surfaces can interfere with detector alignment and affect reliable operation.
