‼️ Market Bosworth Police ‼️

On Thursday night a suspected stolen E-Bike with two males in balaclavas failed to stop for our Fi****ms colleagues in Ratby 🚓 🚲.

After a short pursuit the vehicle went off road and into a park, seemingly making good their escape.

But not for long, PD Cato wasn't far behind and deploying into the fields close to the park. He and dad have picked up the scent and tracked locating the abandoned bike and discarded clothing. 🔍

With other officers flooding the area in search it wasn't long before two likely characters were found a short distance away with slightly less layers on.

Whilst team Cato waited with the bike and clothing, PD Bear took over the track which lead all the way back to the two stopped by officers. 🦮

A search of those stopped also led to the officers locating the key for the bike. 🔑

Two in custody for a number of suspected offences.

‼️ Market Bosworth Police ‼️

Over the last few nights officers from the beat team have stayed on duty for several hours each night past their finish time to carry out extra patrols in Desford, Groby, Twycross and Market Bosworth 🚓. This is after the beat has seen an increase in residential burglaries in those locations targeting high performance and luxury cars 🏡.

The beat have been supported by plain clothed officers from our Neighbourhood Priority Team as well Roads Policing, Fi****ms, Dog Officers and Response colleagues. We are pleased to say that last night there were no reported burglaries in the area.

Regardless of this these additional patrols will be continuing for the foreseeable future, with work going on behind the scenes to identify those involved.

If you see anything suspicious in those areas very late at night/early hours of the morning please call 999 straight away.

🚨 Crime Reduction Event - Burbage Residents 🚨

As we head towards the darker evenings, now is the perfect time to think about protecting your home and vehicle.

This weeks update from Inspector Neil Whittle at Hinckley.
I wanted to provide an update on some recent policing activity and crime trends within our local area.

Following a recent court hearing, a bail application submitted on behalf of two local offenders, suspected of being responsible for a number of burglaries in the Hinckley area, has been rejected. Both individuals remain in custody and are due to appear before the court again at the end of this month.

Since their arrest and remand into custody, we have seen a significant reduction in burglary offences across Hinckley, which is encouraging news for our communities and reflects the positive impact of the investigation and subsequent arrests.

Unfortunately, we are now experiencing an increase in vehicle thefts in the Market Bosworth and Desford areas. In many cases, offenders are targeting residential properties during the early hours of the morning, breaking into homes to steal car keys before taking vehicles from driveways.

In response, CID has established a dedicated team to oversee investigations into this offending. Additional resources from Force Headquarters will also be deployed to conduct overnight patrols, alongside increased patrol activity from local neighbourhood officers during the key risk periods.

I would ask all residents to remain vigilant and ensure vehicle keys are kept secure and out of sight. If you witness any suspicious activity, particularly between midnight and 5:00am, please report it to us immediately. The information you provide could be vital in helping us identify and apprehend those responsible.

It was wonderful to meet so many residents and visitors, share practical crime prevention advice, and provide security items to help keep homes, sheds, and gardens secure.🔒🏠

Yesterday officers from the Beat Team and the Hinckley Neighbourhood Priority Team conducted warrant at an address in Ratby in relation information and intelligence around drug 💉 activity at the property 🏠 .
A search of the address uncovered a small amount of class A drugs and the occupant was dealt with for this.

Drugs are plague on communities and destroy lives, the team at Market Bosworth will always follow up on drug activity and if there is enough intelligence will look to seek a warrant from the Magistrates Court to act on it.

If you have any concerns at all please report them to us and we will look into what can.

We've recently received reports of vehicle-related burglaries in the area and would like to remind residents to take a few simple steps to help keep their vehicles, belongings and homes safe.

✅ Always lock your vehicle, even if you're only leaving it for a short time.
✅ Remove all valuables from sight, including bags, wallets, phones, sat navs and loose change.
✅ Never leave house keys, vehicle keys or spare keys inside your vehicle.
✅ Do not leave tools or other valuable items in your vehicle overnight.
✅ Park in well-lit areas or on driveways where possible.
✅ Ensure all windows, sunroofs and doors are fully closed and secure.
✅ Consider using steering wheel locks, alarms or tracking devices for added security.
✅ Double-check your vehicle is locked before walking away.

🏠 Protect Your Home Too Many offenders target vehicles in an attempt to steal keys and gain access to homes. Please remember:

🔑 Do not leave vehicle keys near front doors, letterboxes or ground-floor windows.
🔑 Keep keys out of sight and out of reach from potential thieves.
🔑 Consider using a signal-blocking pouch (Faraday pouch) for keyless entry vehicles.
🔑 Ensure doors and windows are locked before going to bed or leaving your property.
🔑 Consider installing security lighting, CCTV or a video doorbell.

🚨 If you see anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles or properties, please report it to Leicestershire Police. If a crime is in progress, always call 999.

By taking a few simple precautions, we can help reduce opportunities for thieves and keep our community safe. 💙

- Upgrade patio and rear door security by installing anti-snap locks and secure handles
- Strengthen glass by using security film or limited glass
- Add extra protection to windows by fitting additional locks or internal grilles (where suitable)
- Use alarms, including window vibration sensors and a full home alarm system to deter intruders
- Motion lights and timer-controlled lamps can remove hiding places and increase visibility
- Remove items that can be climbed on, trim bushes, and lock gates securely
- Layer your security, the more protection the better

🚸 Keeping Our Children and Community Safe on the Roads 🚸

The Burbage Beat Team continues to respond to concerns raised by residents about road safety, anti-social behaviour, and parking around our local schools.

Recently, an electric bike was seized from an address in Burbage after being linked to ongoing incidents of anti-social behaviour. We will continue to take action where vehicles are being used irresponsibly and causing concern within the community.

We would also like to remind residents that privately owned e-scooters remain illegal to use on public roads, pavements, cycle paths and other public spaces, regardless of the rider's age, the scooter's size, or its speed. Most importantly, we have continued our patrols around school areas following repeated reports of dangerous and inconsiderate parking. During a visit to Sketchley Hill Primary School, officers observed vehicles parked on and near junctions, creating significant hazards for children, parents, and other road users.

A few moments saved when parking are never worth the risk of a child stepping into the road unseen. Young children can be difficult to spot between parked vehicles, and poor parking can obstruct visibility for everyone trying to leave the area safely.

Please take an extra moment to think before parking during the school run:

❌ Do not park on or near junctions
❌ Do not block dropped kerbs
❌ Do not obstruct driveways or school entrances
❌ Do not park where emergency vehicles may require access
