Thames Valley Air Ambulance is a charity at the frontline of saving lives. We bring the hospital to the patient, giving you the best chance when the worst happens. Every day, somebody in our community could be in urgent need of our service. We rely solely on the generous support of the public. Have you ever wondered what happens after you give blood?

For some donations made in our region, they’re taken to Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where seven days a week, our Blood Delivery Assistants collect blood products for our helicopter and CCRVs. 🚁

Having blood products on board our vehicles means that once crew arrive on scene and control any bleeding, they have immediate access to lifesaving blood. In the last year alone, 76 patients received blood from our crews. That’s more than one person every week. 🩸

James always dreamed of climbing Scafell Pike. This year, his family did it for him.

In his memory, they took on England's highest peak and carried him with them every step of the way. What started as a deeply personal tribute has already raised an incredible £2,275. 👏

We're called to the most seriously ill and injured patients in the region. Sadly, for James, our crew couldn't change the outcome. But they were able to give James' family precious time to say goodbye - something they'll never forget.

To James' family - thank you. What you've done in his memory is incredibly moving and will go a long way in helping us be there for other people and their families when they need us most. ❤

One million miles. 🚗

That’s the equivalent of driving around the world 40 times. And it’s exactly how far our Critical Care Response Vehicles (CCRVs) have travelled since their first mission in 2015. To match this distance, you’d have to drive non-stop for 24 hours a day, seven days a week for 1,400 days!

Our CCRVs carry the exact same lifesaving equipment as our helicopter which gives our service more flexibility. The cars can often reach places where the helicopter might struggle to find a suitable landing site, such as built-up urban areas. 🚁

In fact, our CCRVs were dispatched 2,648 times in 2025, helping our crew deliver critical care to patients when it mattered most. ❤️

Talk about going the distance! The brilliant team at Blandy & Blandy Solicitors raised over £1,300 during a static bikeathon held at their offices earlier this month.

In just two hours, the team pedalled an impressive combined distance of 46 miles, with Accounts Manager Mandy even going the extra mile and cycling a full marathon on her own. 💪

This support could help to fund:

🤕 50 large trauma dressings to help crew manage heavy bleeding after an injury.

💓 40 sets of adult defibrillator pads to give someone a fighting chance during a cardiac arrest.

🚑 10 blood pressure cuffs so crew can monitor a patients blood pressure, a vital observation when someone is critically injured.

We’re so grateful to everyone who saddled up and dedicated their time and energy to supporting their local air ambulance. The support really will make a difference. ❤️
