Deploy a person-centred approach in taking care of the client’s physical, emotional, cultural and social needs.
Monitor and encourage the client’s preference, independence, dignity, privacy, fulfilment and rights as an individual.
Create and maintain a positive, personal and professional relationship with clients, their family and friends.
Work together and support fellow care workers.
Follow the regulatory and statutory obligations of Star Homecare by adhering to policies, procedures and guidelines.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Dress appropriately, wearing uniform and using personal protective equipment
Attend and participate in all relevant meetings
Attend and carry out all training required
To aim to ensure everyone has equal treatment and equal access to services and employment
Any other duties requested by Senior Management, which are within the scope of the post
Full driver’s license and own transport
Flexibility is key, as evening, weekend and live-in work may be required depending on the client
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provision of Care
Provide care for clients with a range of needs, illnesses and disabilities
Knowledge and understanding of the care and support the client requires
Carry out tasks detailed in the client’s care and support plan
Promote the independence of the client and encourage self-motivation in order avoid dependant behaviour
Contribute to the care and support plans of the clients by regularly feeding back to your line manager
Assist clients in getting up in the morning and going to bed at night
Assist clients in bathing
Assist clients to dress and undress
Assist clients to look after their teeth, skin, hair and nails
Assist clients with continence management, toileting and personal hygiene
Assist clients with the medication, adhering to the clients Medication Assessment
Prepare food and beverages for the client, maintain awareness of the client’s preference, likes/dislikes and dietary needs
Carry out light household duties including tidying, cleaning and laundry, as outlined in the care plan
Use manual handling equipment correctly and safely
Take responsibility for the safe handling of property and equipment belonging to the client
Converse with the client, actively listen to them about their interests, and provide them with companionship
Enable the client to contact their family and friends and manage personal affairs
Accompany the client on trips
To ensure as safe as possible the living environment for the Client, whilst respecting the Client’s choice, independence and rights.
-Recording and Reporting
Carry out detailed and accurate records into the PASS system in respect of care and medication and tasks undertaken
Regularly read care plans, recognise and action changes
To protect the confidentiality of the client, only passing on information to those authorised to receive it
Report any issues concerning the care, support, well-being or behaviour of the client and update PASS records accordingly
Recognise signs of abuse and immediately report to the manager
Report complaints to the office or manager
Contact the office or Out of Hours Care Coordinator if running late
