It's Local Council Clerk Week!

Clerks are professionals, they’re usually trained and qualified in community governance and council administration. Juggling a range of skills from finance and accounting, staff management and HR to understanding and interpreting relevant and ever-changing legislation. They’re advisers to their councillors making sure that what councils do is done properly, then they roll up their sleeves ready to lead volunteers to clean rivers, collect litter or fundraise for local projects.

Unfortunately, The Council has taken the difficult decision to cancel this year's event due to ongoing staffing and volunteer issues and lack of resources to organise the day to the high standard we strive for.

We are disappointed but we must accept that the decision is best made now, rather than closer to event day. We hope you understand our position and we will of course be issuing full refunds to those who have paid a stall fee.

Thank you for your support.

Your winner for the ‘Town and Parish Council Community Award’ is Wooburn & Bourne End Parish Council! 📢

Wooburn Parish Council has demonstrated a strong and sustained commitment to meeting the needs of a growing community, recognising increasing pressure on local amenities and the importance of protecting access to green space.

Through the development of Wooburn Park, they have created a welcoming, inclusive environment designed to support recreation, connection and wellbeing for residents of all ages.

The park has become a vibrant community space, encouraging outdoor activity and social interaction while promoting physical, mental and social wellbeing. Their ongoing investment and commitment have resulted in a high-quality public asset with lasting value.

This work highlights how a parish council can go beyond routine provision to deliver a thriving community hub, shaping healthier, more connected communities through thoughtful and inclusive use of shared space.

Congratulations to Wooburn Parish Council and to Chalfont St Peter Parish Council & CAPP Group, and Councillor Mike Tarry from Penn Parish Council , who were also shortlisted in this category
