-So this week I have reported multiple pieces of casework and discussed concerns with residents I am trying to help.
-I attended the flag raising for our Armed Forces and 1940s Day in the town centre with colleagues.
-Met with success in dealing with concerns re: the unsuitable conversion of a home on St James’s Terrace.
-Yesterday I met with Fr Ebuka of Our Lady & St Joseph’s parish, Heywood, to discuss ongoing work with Churches Together Heywood, of which I am now a member and feel can offer a great deal to the town in terms of community and inclusion.
-Last night I also attended the regular board meeting of YourTrust, which I am proud to be trustee of as part of my role as a Heywood councillor, and we discussed several exciting new and ongoing projects to improve the leisure and arts offer in Heywood.
-I chaired my first Audit and Governance committee meeting for the council, an important part of the scrutiny role councillors play, which many people don’t know about, but which keeps a close eye on how our money is spent and how efficiently and fairly the council is run.
A busy and productive week!
