-So this week I have reported multiple pieces of casework and discussed concerns with residents I am trying to help.
-I attended the flag raising for our Armed Forces and 1940s Day in the town centre with colleagues.
-Met with success in dealing with concerns re: the unsuitable conversion of a home on St James’s Terrace.
-Yesterday I met with Fr Ebuka of Our Lady & St Joseph’s parish, Heywood, to discuss ongoing work with Churches Together Heywood, of which I am now a member and feel can offer a great deal to the town in terms of community and inclusion.
-Last night I also attended the regular board meeting of YourTrust, which I am proud to be trustee of as part of my role as a Heywood councillor, and we discussed several exciting new and ongoing projects to improve the leisure and arts offer in Heywood.
-I chaired my first Audit and Governance committee meeting for the council, an important part of the scrutiny role councillors play, which many people don’t know about, but which keeps a close eye on how our money is spent and how efficiently and fairly the council is run.

A busy and productive week!

A great evening so far watching Portugal vs Uzbekistan and now England vs Ghana in our fantastic local North Heywood ward pub The Olde Queen Anne. Spent some time with great mates and enjoying the game. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

A great morning at my advice surgery at Heywood Library (thanks to the staff for the fan and water!)

Then, a privilege to witness the flag raising for armed services day, watching our past and present service people line up together with dignity to salute their flag. My council colleagues and our MP stood respectfully behind as they had their deserved moment.

A wander round the 1940s day, tea and cake and a go on the tombola at our beautiful St Luke’s parish church (I won a Twix!) bought some crazy socks at the market place on our newly refurbished Peine Square outside the newly refurbished Heywood Civic, then got to have a mandatory selfie with an RAF plane!

Well done to all who organise this great event!
