On the plant & produce stall at The Bridge today we have tomato plants and hardy garden plants. Keep on checking the stall as more plants become available. And don't forget the annual plant sale at the end of this month - raising funds for the gardening group who keep the village looking so lovely

The council is looking to maximise the impact of all its services and as part of this, we are looking at new ways of delivering library services. This includes the way we work in partnership with local communities.

Did you know the Northumberland County Council (NCC) is reviewing its library services? The library service budget is being cut by c.£250k and NCC is proposing to develop the 5 Hub Libraries in the North, South, East, West, where Hexham is our local hub library, and Central areas; change the hours of some libraries and close 6 small local libraries, replacing them with Community Access Libraries (CALs) run by volunteers, following the model already used in Haydon Bridge and Heddon. Like The Bridge, these new CALs won't form part of the council’s future statutory responsibility.

A public consultation started on 16th February and goes on until Monday 13th April. You can find more information about the proposed changes and the online questionnaires for adult servuiced and for children & young people's services at https://www.northumberland.gov.uk/libraries-and-archives/shaping-future-northumberland-libraries/about-our-libraries-consultation .

If you don’t do online, we have printed copies of the proposals; the background information and the questionnaires at The Bridge, so pop in and take a look.

NCC is also holding an Information Drop-in session at The Bridge this Friday, March 6th from 3.30-5.30pm so come along and find out more.
