Springboard Hetton Public Services

Springboard Hetton Public Services Public services at Springboard Hetton offer level one and two qualifications in both uniform and non uniform Public Services.

Public Services Hetton was set up by Springboard in October 2011 to introduce learners to the different types of employability within the uniform and none uniform sectors of the public services. To help learners to achieve their desired goals, we offer a BETEC qualification at either level 1 or level 2 in public services, this is achieved over a period of time and is based at our offices in Hetto

n. Over the past 36 months we have had visits to, the Fire service, attended a one day introduction to the army at Marne Barracks in Catterick, visited the RNLI at Sunderland Marina, been invited to Fenham Barracks Newcastle by the Queens Own Yeomanry Reservists, had talks from the Ambulance service, Prison Service (Prison me no way), Northumbria Police, Community beat Officers and Sunderland Army Careers Office. As well as all the above there has to be a degree of fitness, so we actively participate in fitness sessions such as the 1.5 mile run, improve on our upper body fitness by way of situps and pressups and as we are only a stones throw away from Springboards Adventure Centre at Hetton Lyons Country Park we get involved in activities such as kayaking, rock climbing, gorge walking, orienteering and other outward bound activities. So if you are looking at a career in public services please let us know by getting in touch with Springboard or let us know via this face book page.

Wednesday 14th May saw the Springboard Hetton Public Services participate in an inter-college challenge at Kirkley hall based in Northumberland. 12 teams were entered from around the North East area into an adventurous activity day involving various team building challenges. Having arrived on the day and unaware of the challenge ahead our team of 6 comprising of both the Level 2 Sport and Level 2 Public Services, grabbed the challenge with both hands and produced an outstanding performance resulting in the team finishing 3rd overall, narrowly missing out on 2nd place! All involved had a fantastic day and were a credit to themselves and Springboard.....Well done all who took part!!!

A great day had by all at the Sunderland RNLI station. My lads were more than interested and asked loads of questions. A huge thank you to Jerry and his crew who as volunteers took the time out to tell us about the RNLI and who opened up the station for us to look around, all part of a public service, cheers...!!
