The past week has seen us busy as usual with multiple sites visited across the Yorkshire region.

We have replaced some detection at a school in Leeds, carried out fault finding and repairs to another school in Leeds and left both systems in full working order.

We were tasked with attending an area of Hull, which had been transformed into a Victorian street for filming of an upcoming Netflix production, after issues during night filming resulted in issues to one of the buildings fire alarms, luckily nothing major and all rectified quickly, we got a tour of the set and a look at the behind the scenes technical stuff.

Another job we attended this week required our healing touch, the fire alarm system, after years of issues and not working correctly, was left fully working and fault free, for the first time in over 4 years. Divine intervention couldn’t help but we could.

We specialise in fault investigation and rectification, system interrogation, system commissioning, maintenance, system condition reports and fire system compliance audits.

We have been flat out for the past couple of weeks, and we haven’t had time to post.

We have been all over the country again, Hull, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham, Grimsby, Scunthorpe to name a few of the places we have been.

We have won a couple of new big clients along with the potential for a third new client and site in Bedfordshire.

We are currently working with a partner company to hopefully win another client with multiple large sites around the region.

We have been involved with some night works recently with a very large public address and voice alarm (PAVA) system in a public shopping centre. While onsite we carried out testing, fault investigation and repairs to the system.

We have carried out decommissioning of a system in some industrial units for refurbishment.
On the flip side of that, we have carried out commissioning of a new convenience store in Hull.

In between the big stuff we have carried out numerous smaller repairs, compliance audits and testing of numerous sites.

We have some big projects on the horizon which we will share as they come around

We have been busy again this week, we started the week in Hull, nice and local for a change, we were tasked with commissioning additional devices onto a system for a manufacturing company, then we went over to Scunthorpe for a callout, that ended in fault investigation and 8 detectors being water damaged and requiring replacement.
We attended a factory in Doncaster to take a download of a system for an upcoming upgrade.
We attended another factory in Newcastle under Lyme to commission and test new devices onto the system including some fire beams to cover the roof voids.
The back end of the week saw us tasked with attending a school in Blackburn to setup some very complex cause and effects to allow the system to operate in a very specific way for the sites needs.

We ended the week with a couple of local meetings with clients and spent the rest of the day with our first customer, who have upgraded their internet provider and required their CCTV and intruder settings changing, while onsite, we carried out firmware upgrades to the systems and serviced both systems.

This month marks the 2 year anniversary of Phoenix Fire and Security Systems, we have come along way from where we started, but have no intention of slowing down, onward and upward.

We can slow down a little bit next week, school holidays are always really busy times for our industry, to accommodate all our clients this week, we have been out early and finishing late.

We have commissioned additional devices onto multiple school systems at the following places, Barnsley x2, Hull x4, Sheffield x2 and Bolton.
Whilst at one of the schools, we have carried out Cause and Effects programming changes and testing after issues were found with how the system was responding to different fire events

We have also commissioned additional devices at an office block in Sheffield city centre, and carried out investigation and corrective works at a gym and sports store in Leeds.

Not bad going for a 3 day week, Monday was a bank holiday and Friday we carried out equipment maintenance and we had the van in for a full service ready for more busy weeks ahead.

It’s been a busy one this week, but we have done it, on time and on budget.
We have completed a full system upgrade in a school in the Barnsley area, from a 20 year old gent compact , to an Advanced MXpro5 running Apollo devices.

It was a nice system upgrade, well planned out in advance with any issues looked at before starting the works, one issue was liaising with the lift company to dismantle the top of a lift to allow us access to the top of the lift shaft.

We have relocated the mains supply and had to cut out part of the wall to allow the panel to be recessed.

On top of this project taking all our time this week, we have also managed to squeeze in a couple of call-outs at Doncaster and Rotherham

School holidays are some of our very busy times due to the nature of the work and limited time to complete projects.

We will be very busy next week, with lots more tasks to complete, most before schools reopen.

Another week done, and more tasks completed.

This week we have been to a shopping centre to carry out a survey of an area that requires repairs and upgrading, we have also visited an old poundstretcher store that hasn’t been maintained since it closed during the covid days, which is going to require some investigation work and minor repairs.

We were also tasked this week with carrying out a full system audit and report on a new system that isn’t correct and hasn’t been for nearly 12 months, which is preventing a charity from opening a cancer respite centre, we will be working on this to get them compliant, open and running as soon as possible.

We were also tasked with an audit of a very old system (26 years old) in a facility in Oldham, which will allow for a full system upgrade to be carried out and a new system installed.

Other jobs this week included installing an external antenna for a compliance tool on a fire alarm in Barnsley, due to low signal strength and a maintenance of a fire alarm in a takeaway .

We have also dealt with numerous work enquiries and technical support to partner companies.

This week has seen us all over the country, doing what we do best.
We started the week working late into the evening to connect and commission additional interfaces onto a system at a school in Sheffield.

We attended a farm and bakery up in Middlesbrough to install, connect and commission an interface to shut down a lift, then onward to a community dairy on the North Yorkshire moors with a system that needed its codes resetting and changing, and a fault to investigate and rectify.

We have also been to a meat processing factory this week in Bridlington, where we have reconfigured the systems cause and effects to allow an investigation delay on the system to prevent lost production and time.

The back end of the week saw us down in Derby carrying out a system audit and investigation to a non working system with lots of issues, there are multiple different types of detection on the system from standard detection, to beams and wireless equipment and CO sensors, interconnected to a larger building and smoke vent systems.

A new customer this week has contacted us and asked us to look at a factory in Doncaster which also has numerous faults and is not working correctly.

This week has seen us really busy in the Midlands, we were tasked with stripping back live fire detection equipment within a shopping complex, connecting circuits through and making good the wiring, which allows the main system to continue working correctly, we also had to do the same with the Boldwin Boxall PAVA system and the fire phone system.

We broke off mid week to carry out maintenance at a school in Leeds, and carry out fault investigation to diagnose why some fire doors were not holding open correctly on the escape route. Then onto another school to change some cause and effects for a fire curtain which was not operating as required.

The back end of the week saw us back in the midlands completing the strip back works, which we are pleased to say, are now completed, on time.

We have had a pre start meeting this week regarding a school in South Yorkshire, which we are tasked with working alongside a partner company to upgrade during the Easter holidays, this is a task we are confident we can deliver on time and on budget.
