Tips for a safe and fun Halloween:

- Look for the CE or UKCA mark and Nightwear (Safety) Regulations when choosing a Halloween costume.
- Keep away from candles, tea lights, sparklers and lanterns – use LED alternatives where possible.
- Know how to Stop, Drop, and Roll if clothing catches fire.
- If you are creating your costume from scratch, choose materials that won’t easily ignite if it comes in contact with heat or flame.

Yesterday afternoon Stevenage Blue Watch were called to an unusual animal rescue in Graveley involving a deer that had become trapped in webbing and barbed wire around a tree.

The crew contacted Hatfield Fire Station, which resulted in the Animal Rescue Unit being mobilised. to provide specialist equipment and expertise.

Crew Commander Oliver Dent and team worked with a local deer charity representative to free the animal whilst protecting the deer and firefighters. The barbed wire and webbing were carefully cut away, freeing the deer safely back into the wild.

Well done all involved!
