CADET IN THE COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
This past weekend, cadets from across 2 Company Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Army Cadets came together to support the Standalone Farm 10K Charity Run in Letchworth. From the start of the day until pack-down, our cadets played an important part in helping the event run smoothly. They supported the start and finish lines, handed out water to runners, managed the baggage area, assisted with the pack-down and helped wherever they were needed. But perhaps their most important job of the day, Cheering on the runners and helping create a fantastic atmosphere and supporting the community.
Having our cadets involved provided event organisers with an enthusiastic and dependable team of young volunteers, helping them deliver a safe, welcoming and successful charity event. For the wider community, it was a chance to see young people actively giving their time to support others and making a positive contribution to a local event.
Community events like this are also a great opportunity for the public to see what our cadets and adult volunteers do beyond our normal training Their professionalism, teamwork and willingness to get involved help strengthen our relationship with the local community, raise awareness of the opportunities available within the organisation and build a positive reputation for our local detachments. Volunteering at events like this gives cadets the opportunity to develop skills that extend far beyond the event itself. They learn about teamwork, communication, responsibility, organisation and working with members of the public. They also experience first-hand the importance of community service, understanding that sometimes making a difference is as simple as turning up, getting stuck in and supporting others. A fantastic effort from everyone involved and a great example of our cadets putting their skills and values into action. Well done to all the cadets and CFAVs who gave their time to support the event! "
