Are you struggling to put food on the table? Hereford Food Bank is here to help.

To access a food parcel, you need a referral from an agency or professional such as a GP, social worker, school, Citizens Advice, or another support organisation. Visit https://herefordfoodbank.co.uk/home and we can point you in the right direction.

We provide free, emergency 7-day food parcels to people in Hereford and the surrounding area who are facing a crisis. You do not need to be homeless or in extreme poverty to ask for support. Many people who use food banks are working families, individuals on benefits, or people who have faced an unexpected change in circumstances.

There is no shame in asking for help. That is exactly what we are here for.

A lovely lady brought this to the door this afternoon, she didn’t want to leave her name, but she was doing a Bookers trip for herself and bought several items from our wish list. Thank you from us all at the foodbank.

Every item donated from our local community goes directly to someone in Hereford and the surrounding area who needs it most.

In the UK, around 3 million people used a food bank last year. In Hereford, the need is real and it is right on our doorstep.

Most needed items:

UHT milk
Tinned fish, meat and vegetables
Pasta and rice
Breakfast cereal
Tinned fruit and puddings
Tea, coffee and sugar
Toiletries and hygiene products

Drop your donations at one of our local collection points, or visit https://herefordfoodbank.co.uk/home to find out more.

For a full list of required items please download the ‘Bank the Food’ app: https://www.bankthefood.com/

Thank you for helping us support our neighbours.

Celebrating National Volunteers’ Week
Huge thanks to our incredible community of 100+ volunteers, the backbone of Hereford Food Bank. From packing parcels and delivering to those who can’t travel, to sorting donations, collecting at supermarkets, supporting admin, and working with partner agencies , their impact is immense.

In 2025 alone, volunteers recorded 6,500+ hours of service (with many more unrecorded). These hours represent compassion, commitment, and the belief that no one in Hereford should face crisis alone.

Our volunteers aren’t just helpers — they are the heart and driving force behind every parcel packed and every neighbour supported.

If you’d like to join our volunteer community, email [email protected] or apply via our website: https://herefordfoodbank.co.uk/

Hereford Foodbank Trustee Vacancies

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us on the board at Hereford Foodbank as we are seeking to appoint two new Trustees. We have a vacancy for a Treasurer and a general vacancy for a Trustee.

Our Trustees are the stewards and guardians of the Hereford Foodbank mission. We serve our small team of employees and over 95 volunteers and those who come to us in need.

We do this by committing to our mission to relieve food poverty in Herefordshire by supporting and enabling the extraordinary work of our volunteers and the many generous donors of food (including supermarkets and local food producers) and money to the Foodbank. As our Trustee you will be expected to reflect deeply on the decisions we are called to make.

Our new Trustees will be able to demonstrate a strong and visible passion and commitment to our charity and values. You will have the ability to commit time to attend our regular quarterly meetings and be involved in what we do to enable you to do the role well. A broad knowledge and understanding of the charity sector and current issues affecting our community will be advantageous. For the Treasurer role you will have a finance background at a senior level and ideally have previous experience as a trustee or board director.

Trustees will be asked to carry out tasks relevant to their area of expertise and will be expected to familiarise themselves with the activity of the charity and to support events where appropriate. The Charity Commission sets out the key role and responsibilities of a Trustee in their online publication.

If you would like to arrange an informal conversation about the role or you would like a copy of the role profile or if you would like to apply please send us an email to [email protected] For applications please include your relevant experience and why you are interested in the role by Tuesday 21st April 2026.
