Persephone
A gorgeous new Narrowboat, based between Marlow and Henley on the River Thames, ready to take you and your best on the water-borne holiday of your lifetime.
About Persephone…..
Persephone is a virtually brand new 60 foot long narrowboat, built in 2016 and fitted out to create a warm and lovely living space for up to six guests.
The accommodation consists of three double beds, one of them fixed in the middle cabin, a saloon with seating that converts into a double, a dining area that also converts into a double bed, and a kitchen with oven, hob, fridge freezer and Belfast sink.
The boat also boasts a bathroom with maybe one of the largest showers you’ll ever see on a narrowboat, along with basin and electric pump toilet.
In addition, there is full central heating and a multi-fuel stove in the saloon.
We designed the boat originally with a view to living and cruising on it ourselves from time to time, wanting a space that was warm and light and clean and , most of all, relaxing. At the heart of everything, was the idea that it could be both joyful and relaxing, with a perfect holiday atmosphere if you like, from the moment you step onto the boat.
Persephone is ready for hire, fully fuelled with diesel, gas and water, as well as providing clean bed linen and kitchen towels etc.
There’s also a portable Weber barbecue ( fuel provided), lifejackets x 6, two life belts, first aid and fire safety equipment.
Dogs are potentially welcome by prior arrangement.
Where can you take Persephone?
A local resident once famously wrote:
“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing- absolutely nothing- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.’
So… given that the boat lies by the side of the beautiful water meadows of Medmenham at the bottom of the glorious Hambleden Valley, you could probably stay put where you are and have one of the most wonderfully relaxing holidays ever.
However, should your curiosity get the better of you, you’ll remember that the boat has an engine and that you have been given comprehensive ( and we hope comprehensible! ) instructions on how to use it to propel the boat either downstream to Windsor or a little beyond, or upstream in the direction of Oxford. Either way takes in fantastic scenery with the routes regularly dotted with beautiful old towns and villages and their memorable pubs and…well, more pubs, not to mention endless numbers of Midsomer Murder locations!
In there end though, we hope you’ll have seen that the journey, not the destination, was the most important thing!

Bon Voyage!
NB
The boat is currently available for hire during the Henley Regatta and Festival Season. Given that we will also be providing an eighteen foot Old Town Canadian Canoe to help you towards the action every day, should you wish, we advise people to contact us as soon as possible!
