🗑️ New bin installed at Bear Lane

A new litter and dog waste bin has now been installed at the Bear Lane/Station Road junction, following a request from a local resident.

We’re pleased to see it now in place and ready for use.

🐾 If you’re walking your dog in the area, please make good use of it and help us keep Henley clean and tidy.

Another small but practical improvement for Henley. 👍

📣 JPC submits response to the South Warwickshire Local Plan

At last night’s Ordinary Meeting, councillors approved the JPC’s formal response to the proposed HEN.1 development north-west of Henley-in-Arden. That response has now been submitted.

The JPC’s response was informed by feedback from local residents. We held two public meetings, received comments by email and text message, and spoke to residents at our Meet the Councillors sessions outside The White Swan. This feedback was brought together and reviewed to identify the concerns raised most frequently.

The JPC accepts that new homes are needed and that some growth in Henley is appropriate. However, we do not believe it has been clearly shown why the town should take at least 2,084 new homes, or how the roads, services and other infrastructure needed to support them will be provided.

Our response raises concerns about traffic, the proposed link road and railway bridge, Green Belt, landscape and heritage, flooding and drainage, schools, healthcare, social care and pressure on local services. It also considers affordable housing and access to employment, and the potential effect of the proposed neighbourhood centre on Henley High Street.

📄 We are asking Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick District Councils to look again at HEN.1. If they cannot provide clear evidence showing why at least 2,084 homes are needed at Henley and how they can be supported, the minimum figure should be removed or the number of homes significantly reduced.

At its meeting on Monday 7 September, Beaudesert & Henley in Arden Joint Parish Council approved its formal response to the South Warwickshire Local Plan consultation. The response has now been submitted. Our response focuses on HEN.1, also known as SG23, which proposes a minimum of 2,084 new homes....

⏰ Regulation 19 consultation closes on Tuesday 8 September

If you would like to comment on the proposed HEN.1 allocation, which identifies land for a minimum of 2,084 homes, there are only a few days left to submit your response.

The JPC has agreed in principle that it will object to HEN.1. The details of its formal representation will be considered at the Ordinary Meeting on Monday evening.

Any representation submitted by the JPC is separate from comments made by individual residents, and anyone wishing to comment should submit their own response before the consultation closes.

At Regulation 19, your response should explain why you believe the Plan is or is not legally compliant or sound, and what changes you think are needed.
