⚠️ Poor Cable Containment Design – Potential Regulatory Non-Compliance Risk
Undersized • Overloaded • Potentially Non-Compliant
Future expansion was never considered in line with applicable installation standards
This type of installation raises serious concerns not only from a safety perspective, but also in terms of compliance with relevant electrical installation regulations and standards (such as BS 7671 and associated guidance on cable support, containment loading, and mechanical protection).
Where containment is undersized or overloaded, and where additional cabling has been introduced without proper design review, the installation may no longer meet the required regulatory criteria for safety, structural integrity, or ongoing suitability.
👉 A formal inspection, testing, and load assessment of the cable containment system should be undertaken by a competent person.
👉 Compliance should be verified against current electrical installation standards, including suitability for present and foreseeable future demand.
👉 Any identified non-compliance should be addressed without delay, as failure to do so may result in increased fire risk, mechanical failure, enforcement action, or invalidation of certification and insurance cover.
Installations of this nature can deteriorate into significant compliance liabilities if left unassessed or unremedied.
Would you be confident this meets current standards if inspected today? ⚡
