🥾 June's Walk of the Month 🥾

Take on a dramatic 5 mile circular walk through the spectacular Hole of Horcum, a vast natural amphitheatre plunging 400 feet deep, before continuing across Levisham Moor, an area rich in archaeological remains.

Before you set off, pause at the viewing platform and soak up the panoramic views. The accessible viewing area features an interpretation board exploring the history and legends of the landscape. Plus, find a QR code linking to our Wander art trail, showcasing artwork created by students from The Northern School Of Art.

Portable toilets are now installed in the Hole of Horcum car park. Keep an eye out for The Coffee Cart or an ice cream van for a post-walk treat. ☕🍦

Some places are too good not to share with a plus one, and Ampleforth Abbey is one of them. It's a secret weapon for anyone who loves introducing friends and family to great brews, beautiful views and divine cakes.

The Tea Room at Ampleforth Abbey is a bustling spot run by a friendly team and is open to everyone, whether you're visiting the Abbey or passing by on a walk or a bike ride. Open seven days a week, it serves delicious homemade cakes, warming brews, and apple cider and juice pressed from fruit grown in the onsite orchard.

Our recommendation? Order a slice of the apple cake, also made using apples from the orchard, and head outside to soak up the sweeping views across the Howardian Hills. With a hot pot of tea and good company, it's the kind of place where hours can disappear in easy conversation.

Tag someone you'd bring here for a brew with a view. 👇

Are you amazed by anemones or captivated by crustaceans? Our next rocky shore survey is taking place in Staithes on Thursday 18th June.
Joined by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, we will be exploring some of the tidal pools to the right of the harbour and recording as much of the marine life we can find, which will contribute to valuable data collection for our coastline.

Whether you have some existing skills to share or are a complete beginner, anyone aged 18+ are welcome to take part.
Places are limited, so be sure to book your FREE space here: https://orlo.uk/Xx0zO

All survey equipment and helpful ID sheets will be provided. But please remember to dress for the weather (it is Yorkshire after all!) and we highly recommend wellington boots or walking shoes if you are joining us.
We look forward to seeing you on the beach 🐟
