Morning all, sadly some of the fish in the top pond at the Country Park have died. We have had this before and had it checked out with Environment Agency, its due to the extreme heat causing lack of oxygen. We will continue to monitor the situation.
thanks and have a good weekend

Unfortunately, the anti-social behaviour and fire-setting incidents have continued, as shown in the photos of the latest damage caused by irresponsible youths. The Police have been informed, and sent CCTV footage of the incident. The Parish Council is working closely with the Police to pursue an appropriate resolution with those responsible, in accordance with the law.

We’re asking for a little honesty and responsibility following an incident at our Hub car park on Monday 11th May 2026 at 7.30pm.

A learner driver was using the car park to practise reversing and unfortunately hit one of our low brick walls, causing it to collapse. The entire incident was captured on CCTV.

We appreciate that everyone has to learn somewhere, and mistakes can happen β€” especially when learning to drive. At this stage, we are simply asking for the learner driver and/or the responsible adult who was supervising them to come forward and contact us regarding the damage caused.

We could report the incident to the police, however we understand that this could potentially be treated as a hit and run offence, which feels like a very severe outcome for someone who hasn’t even passed their test yet.

We would much rather resolve this amicably and give those involved the opportunity to do the right thing.

Please contact us privately as soon as possible.

🌿 Hellingly Country Park Pond Update 🌿

We’ve had a few queries recently about the shiny film that sometimes appears on the surface of the pond.

Please be reassured that the Environment Agency attended last year and confirmed this is completely normal and not a cause for concern.

This effect is known as a biofilm. It is a thin layer of naturally occurring microorganisms (such as bacteria) that forms on the surface of water. In ponds, it can sometimes look like a shiny, oily, or rainbow-coloured sheen, especially depending on light and weather conditions.

It forms naturally as bacteria break down organic material in the water and is generally harmless in countryside ponds, even though it can look quite striking at times.

Thank you for helping us care for and enjoy our beautiful Country Park 🌱
