Linn Botanic Gardens

Linn Botanic Gardens A hidden gem on the shores of Loch Long, in Cove, near Helensburgh, Linn Botanic Gardens is a haven Entry is £5 per adult.

Linn Botanic Gardens, tucked into a narrow rocky valley and warmed by the Gulf Stream, have a microclimate of their own. Established in 1971 by Dr Jim Taggart, and developed with his son Jamie, the gardens contain almost 4,000 plant species. Dr Ian Edwards, of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, has called Linn the most biodiverse place in Scotland. Containing many species endangered in the wild,

it is, in effect, a botanical zoo. The centre of the gardens is dominated by a substantial cliff enabling fine views over much of the plantings. Among the more notable collections are ferns, bamboos, Magnolias and Rhododendrons. Concessions for children and pensioners available.

Sadly we hear that The Linn is back on the market. This is the second time it has been sold in a year. This page was set up when The Linn was in Jim Taggart's care, we do not have any connections to the current owners. We care deeply about The Linn's future. If anyone has any bright ideas about how we can secure its future to preserve Jim and Jamie's legacy then please get in touch. Community buy out perhaps? Crowd funding? Answers on a postcard... Thank you
